Fox News: Minorities and the poor do not deserve $15/hr.

I would also like to the add that the majority of young folk entering the workforce from the suburbs and inner city are useless, I know not your kids.......(I did not say all... just most) They are soft, spoiled, and don't know crap. They cannot survive more than 15 minutes without checking something on the smart phones.... no way this new breed of idiots should be getting $15 an hour. Small town America is where you will find hard working individuals.

No but they are an interesting company. Revenues up 52% in Q1’21 over the same period last year. Given their historic and current stock price, might be time to look at an investment

Just thought it might be awkward if you ordered one and your son showed up
Oh. I have used it before. About 8-10 times over the last year or two.

LOL. So in another words, you are just pulling outa your a** based on your gut feeling.

If price indexes are not measured accurately than there is no other statistic relative to this discussion that you can reference as accurate. As such, you are doing nothing but spewing bullsh*t.
Interesting how you claim to care about the wealth gap yet defend the elites in the Central Bank stealing money from the poor to give to the rich

I don't want to put any district on blast but I could name some districts in Ohio (largely in impoverished areas) that currently start new teachers at under $30,000. $15/hr adjusted to full time work measures out to about $31,200.
Teachers only work about 180 days a year, so if they were paid for those 180 days at $15/hr they would make around $21,000. Using your numbers they would make over $20/hour in an impoverished area.

People are not pushing for $15-20. Workers can’t just demand money and have it be granted. Employers are raising to that level to attract workers. You still don’t get how this all works.
And you still dont get how this will crash the economy.

As the husband of a public school teacher, I can tell you that that if you were to account for the total hours spent dedicated to work beyond her contractual obligation to be at the building, it stretches significantly beyond 180 days. I couldn't begin to give you an estimate of how much more, but grading, lesson planning, prepping materials, conferences, it adds up.

I've spent plenty of Saturdays with her at the building making copies, laminating, hole punching, etc to make sure we can get on with our weekend at a reasonable time.

My wife just retired after 33 years, her mom was a teacher, my dad was a teacher, my brother and his wife are teachers. My wife was regularly the first one to arrive and one of the last to leave. But even with that, they don't work as many hours as a salaried person, making the same money.

So she should get a real job ??

If most jobs work 50 weeks a year with two weeks paid vacation, teachers work about 3/4 of that and no paid vacations.
I always found it amusing that my kids always spent more days in school than their teachers.

"Under the Ohio Revised Code, all teachers in the state get 15 days of sick leave and three personal days per year. Sick days are accumulated throughout their career, and personal days expire annually"

And they have better benefits

Just about your whole family are unionized Socialists?

Let's not pretend that teachers have the market cornered on working "after h, ours". There are countless careers where people put in time on nights, weekends, vacations.....
My question is, what careers don't require more than 40 hrs/week? Imagine too a job where if you were to not be there, someone else does your job for you.

I have a big family, so no. My MIL is the only one who is crazy, like the far left leaning folks on here. My dad was completely anti union, despite being a Democrat early in his life.

Was he forced to join the teacher's union?

You know who wants a $15 minimum wage? Big business. They can either afford it or will use it as an excuse to speed up the elimination of human work. And they’ll smile as they watch smaller competition struggle to get by.

Economically irresponsible and illiterate policies like this kill small businesses, which make up ~50% of employers

Hell, in the early 90s I made 1.85 an hour working for our local park.

and in some ways that was my favorite job ever....working on baseball diamonds, instructing/helping the kids baseball leagues during the day.

Ah...the good ole days! Even got to take batting practice....sshhh shhh....on the clock!

He did Grub Hub last summer and during his senior year. He will likely continue to do it as he just took a graduate assistant job on the staff of a college football team. That does not pay much but usually is the required route.

This was such a good time I had to read it twice!

The thought of ProDerp's kid going to college, only to end up being the water boy on a football team, who delivers pizzas at night, may be the funniest thing I've read on here in a LONG time.

LMAO!
