Sure feels like the Democrats goal is to keep Joe as far away from public spotlight as possible. Is he mentally prepared to go head-to-head with Donald Trump?
 
 
It looks more and more like this will be the case. Part of the reason the Democrats are pushing for voting by mail is because they want to get as many votes in before any chance Biden and Trump go toe to toe in a debate. If they get their way for the mail in voting there really is no need for the debates because most voting is projected to be done by mail before the debates.

There is no real need for debates anyway. Their position on policy is clear. They are extremely well know entities. Debates are not required to have a presidential election.
 
Trump cannot say the word Yosemite or walk down a ramp and when confronted with a real reporter absolutely looks ridiculous. Biden is fine. Meanwhile Trump suing Nevada to prevent online voting. (only in Florida)

My favorite was Pro esss . this was two years ago, he hasn't improved , he will surely have the those loud nose whistles again { Adderall } that will flow into a million households with labored breathing . Biden will debate him at least twice and Trump will not shine brightly either.

 
It's obvious to any reasonable person that Biden's people will do whatever they can to keep him off a debate stage. I mean, they're already working on it lol.
 
Yes Bidens people sitting back and watching the trump car crash is a solid strategy...but a debate is not a worry probably unnecessary as trump is currently debating facts and his own coronavirus experts on live TV everyday.

Then debating should be no issue. There are a lot of undecided votes to be had, unless we get mail in ballots.

When Joe comes out and looks like he did in Dem debates he will be fine. Trump is no longer dealing in facts and reality and his record of quitting the pandemic is THE issue that voters care about especially after schools start struggling and a second wave hits. It will be easy pickings meanwhile trump spinning against his task force and trying to explain his numbers (which he does not grasp) to a reporter from axios. Trump is flailing.

And why would they not? From a neutral materiality standpoint, the debates are meaningless. Nobody will learn anything new about what either candidate will do for the country. We already know. The election is not even about that. It is about which one does less damage. From Biden’ POV, it is not in his strategic best interests to debate. Just look at this week. Trump is destroying himself with stuff like that horrific Axios interview. Just letting him keep doing it. From a Trump perspective, the debates represent a chance to stabilize his free fall, but it is no guarantee given his obvious mental instability. Biden should avoid debates. Even with a good performance, there really is not upside for him.

One reason for Biden to debate is to see if he has the cognitive ability to handle an unscripted argument with his opponent. You know the MINIMUM we require of a POTUS.

It is clear to anyone who has had the sad misfortune of dealing with elderly relatives who have experienced dementia that Biden shows clear signs of that ailment. At minimum Biden should engage in 3 debates with Trump AND face the press regularly over the next 3 months to answer questions about what he would do if elected POTUS.

Then and ONLY then can he put to rest the concerns of his mental acuity.

Nope. Trump displays both mental & physical vigor. Sure he regularly botches words and sentences but he's been doing that for 40 years. I have yet to see Trump speaking and then stop with that distant look in his eyes as he searches for what he was going to say next. Trump has diarrhea of the mouth but Biden clearly has mental issues.

Age is a very interesting thing. When you're in your 70's it's a lot like when you're in your early teens. Some kids haven't hit puberty yet while others are shaving.

Trump reminds me of the kind of 70 something that acts more like they're in their 60's. In contrast Biden looks like one of those 70 plus year olds that act like they're in their late 80's. We've all seen this and if you were honest you would admit it.

This is why you guys are terrified of Biden debating Trump. It's not because Trump is a great debater, he sucks at it and a good debater would clean his clock. But you fear how Biden will look and hold up during a debate. Trump won't have to do much for Biden to scare the hell out of a lot of voting Americans.

They are terrified of seeing the contrast of policy in a way that the press can't cover for Babbles. When one position is articulated immediately following the articulated position of the opponent there is no hiding, there is no messaging, there is no carefully crafted story to cover up the facts. You've seen it for months out of Biden and the talking heads on CNN/MSNBC - I saw Biden's ad for the "recovery" after the recession, if I hadn't lived it, I might have bought the one-sided "success" story.

But you are right, they aren't "required", just like the release of tax records. But when the press doesn't do it's job, it's up to the American people to make up their own minds.

Bullchit . Go play even a couple audio clips of Trump 7-8 years ago. 2-3 YEARS AGO . He was actually fairly articulate back in the day . 40 years ago he was basically like this ? Lotty ? Who is you guys ? I am not terrified in the least of this so called contrast in the two that you think there is . Trump looks younger for sure, but his verbal skills and vocabulary are dwindling as well. His addie sniffles and labored breathing dons't exactly yell healthy as a horse either .

While I think Biden will and should debate the increasingly unstable Trump { I mean Lotty have you watched his last few 'interviews"?} I see the strategy angle that Prov is getting at . Kind of like a football team being ahead and not throwing the ball up too much and being content to use the clock , especially smart when the opponent keeps getting in their own way.
