Will baseball season be normal again?

My son's school in Michigan has been full go since Fall, except only inter-squad scrimmages in Sept and Oct. First games on Feb 20th. Can tell you one thing, college baseball players have to work their tails off.

Obviously College Baseball players work really hard, that’s not even debatable imo. Michigan and Illinois have different Dictators!

I am really proud of the work that he has put in. He is even saving some money to try and go to the TOP VELOCITY facility this summer. Regardless of what happens the process is definitely maturing him up. But Illinois has me concerned.

Just 3 weeks out from the beginning of practices. Still seeing alot of cancellations in the Winter sports due to quarantines. Hopefully the baseball season will be a little different. I wonder if some baseball teams will be like the NFL where they keep players segregated into smaller groups (Browns WRs/Broncos QBs) so if one catches Covid-19, only a handful would have to be quarantined. It could work easier in baseball than some other sports.

Baseball by nature is more spread out.

Just got word that a local JUCO is canceling season due to testing burden. Just going to play intra-squad games this spring.
A local kid, a tremendous athlete, went to Sinclair to play ball and they cancelled last year. Transferred to Edison, and they also canceled. Feel bad for the kid, great athlete.

That is the one. Have a friend whose kid is on that team too. Actually left somewhere to play there because it was a better opportunity. Holding out hope that they will relax the testing requirement so that they can schedule other teams. What a nightmare. Lost his senior year and now is losing his freshman year. He is a catcher and I really admire his work ethic. Just stinks.

I think things will be ok for 2021. I'm sure some teams will have some covid-19 cases and be shutdown for a while, but I would expect to see the season go on. I also think fans will be permitted but all out of state trips cancelled if they haven't been already.

Numbers could be down also, I have seen a few big high schools already cancel freshman teams due to not having enough freshman, and having a JV-B team that includes 9th and 10th graders.
