Week 3: Elder vs Springboro

Nice win Elder. Took care of business and the game was really over after the first quarter.

I think we can go 2-2 over the next four weeks thru the grinder part of a schedule. Hopefully those two wins will be over X and Moe.

Definitely need Uran back next week. The DBs played well overall but got beat on a few dbl moves that would’ve been big plays if the WR caught the ball. Even though Mason from Eds shouldn’t be allowed to play, the rules don’t apply to Eds, so he’s going to be a problem in man cvg.

Why play an already injured player next week. The game means nothing. Get healthy for the GCL.

They’re terrible but they look like they have players. Usually, you can eyeball a team this bad in warmups and see why they’re so bad, not the case for Boro.
The QB has a rocket arm and the schemes are solid. Unfortunately for them the QB missed open WRs about 65% of the game. The RB really only ran east-west tonight, but had decent speed. I agree not a good team this year, but do have some individual talent.

All the guys saying Springboro's defense was pretty good, Elder gashed them on the ground tonight. Either the OL figured something out, or they weren't as good defensively as many thought.

Shame Elder won't get many Harbins from them this year. But I like this series and hope they can continue it.

Region 4 is wide open. Milford and Princeton are the only two undefeated teams thru 3 weeks. Moe and X both lost tonight.

Pick beat Upper arlington by 3 tds tonight and are undefeated.

I think it’s somewhere in between. Boro’s D might not be as good as other have said, but the Elder OL really played well tonight.

Moe and X might be vulnerable. It’s more important to be in the best shape for a GCL run.

I said that before the season started. Moeller had to replace their entire offensive line from last season. They get a lot of hype because of Marshall, but they lost a lot. They have some talent for sure. They also had to replace their coach. Elder was a good coach didn't get enough credit.

Ramsey said in pre game Uran should be back next week. He also said Priestle is going to be miss about 3-4 weeks. He thinks Forktamp should be back for St. Ed's, but that is not for sure yet. One bit of good news is he thinks Evan Meier will be able to start practicing next week. I don't think he will play against Ed's, but it is good to hear that he can practice.

I think what last night showed me was we need to appreciate the Elder program and coaching staff more than maybe we do. If you put those kids wearing Springboro uniforms last night through the Elder program with Elder’s coaching staff and facilities they would be a very good team. There is a difference to going through Elder’s program (and other GCL programs) and going through most public school programs. We should be grateful for what we have at Elder, from freshman level through varsity.

That was my point earlier, Boro as a team, passes the eye test. They don’t have any OL that are 5-10 175 lbs or a RB that’s running like he has concrete shoes. The QB play is inconsistent but you can see the kid has insane arm strength. It doesn’t make sense that they’re this bad, but they are.

ADS was also right about their Schemes. Those giant splits with the WRs lining up all the way out past the numbers, is something you see from Tennessee and the old Art Briles Baylor Offense. Their WRs got open but either dropped the ball or the QB overthrew them.

Milford is going to be a program to contend with while Grippa is there. He is a program builder and is great at getting the kids to buy in. I don’t know how many years of coaching he has left in him though.

He’s been there a while. You could tell they had some good skill talent when they played Elder in the playoffs.

Ryan Schachleiter was on the sidelines throwing the ball and looked healthy.
Brass has played very well in his absence, but if he can come back healthy and they can incorporate Brass as more of a Wildcat QB, that would be a huge boost.

It has been posted on here that Schachleiter was not the #1 before his injury. Does anyone know for sure if true.

And I don’t want to undersell the effort and willingness to be coached of the players that come through Elder year after year. The kids have to buy in to any program to make it work and Elder kids seem to do that every year.

Every year, except 2011. Even then, once the team cancers were suspended the final 2 games, they played better.

Brass pulled away from both quarterbacks as the #1 qb preseason. Brass Started as a Freshman and also was the Starting Quarterback JV year when they went undefeated!
