State Duals Discussion - Division III

What's the atmosphere like for this tournament? I went to Indiana's team dual tournament (also 3 classes and all in one venue) the first year it moved to Ft Wayne. It was a great atmosphere for the small schools (1A equivalent to D3), and ok for 2A (D2), and average (except big individual matches) for 3A (D1). Was not as hyped as the Indiana individual tournament (single class) or the old single class dual tournament. I'm guessing that was because some of the old rivals in the single class dual tournament were spread between 2 classes (be 3 next year as 4th class added) and a couple of notable teams declined. Anyway I love watching team duals and the bumping strategies coaches have to figure out. Usually one under the radar kid becomes a hero by either winning by upset or by not losing by pin, tech fall, or major decision depending on the situation.

^^^ Its all based on the situation and circumstances in a dual. If it’s going according to script then fans are gonna be a little more flat. I think for us (Edison Chargers), was our dual with Medina Highland. Whether at St. John’s or at our High School it didn’t matter. We were undefeated and Beat some good D1 programs and we expected to beat them. They jump out to a 22-6 lead and their fans were engaged and loud and some what hostile as one dad got tossed. Then I think a little panic set in and we came roaring back and our fans got loud. That was the most fun I had at any Dual this year. But I think it had to play out the way it did with our undefeated season on the line.

D-III is Milan and then everyone else... very cool to see a D-III program get so strong.
I would tend to agree the quarters and semis should be Milan overpowering their opponents pretty handily more than likely. I believe Wayndale is the overwhelming favorite on the bottom side and they could push Milan in the finals some but it would take an awful lot to upset Milan. Wayndale would have to wrestle at a very high level and hope Milan was off their game alot. Milan coaches will have their boys up for the challenge. I believe could see a final score in the range of 56-12. The other thing is if Milan pulls this off, they are a pretty young team including 3 starting freshman, this could be the start of a pretty good run for them.
