The Northwest Tuckers with mascot below ...

Can I just say.....it brings me so much joy know that a Northwest Alum and former coach are steering the ship at Manchester now.....

Everytime ya'll win now it's going to be because you have a Northwest guy at the helm....had to go get a Northwest guy to fix the program....can't beat'em, hire one of their coaches!

Love it

On that note, I did hear that there is a lot of excitement in the Manchester program now....tons of off-season commitment from the kids...practices going really well so far....internally they believe they're going to be a good football team this year

I’d rather those three just steal Wooster and New Phila, and leave the western schools out of it.
Yep..., it should be...
Louisville
Dover
New Philadelphia
Wooster
Alliance
*Central Catholic (not sure if they'd be OK with this setup)

I'd even be OK with adding Massillon in all other sports *except football*. And Massillon might actually be OK with that arrangement.

Wooster is the outlier then.....they'd probably rather just stay in the OCC.

That can't be true. Weren't we told this was a "terrible" hire and that the school "settled" for this coach?? ;)

This exact thing happens any time any school gets a new coach in any sport. Buy-in is high. Energy, enthusiasm, and optimism are high. Whether or not a coach can sustain it over time is the true test.

We've heard this every year for about a decade about Minerva, buy-in is high, numbers are up, etc. There's also usually some promise of an upcoming class being "really good" and this being the year they turn the corner. Then the season starts. The reality for Manchester is they don't have a ton of talent or size in the school right now, they are coming off an 0-10 season and have a first year head Coach. That doesn't sound like a recipe for success. The good news is their schedule is a lot more favorable this year than last, Carrollton, Marlington, Tuslaw, and Fairless should all be reasonably winnable games with the Marlington and Tuslaw ones probably being their best shot. Even games like Sandy Valley and Northwest aren't looking like the lopsided line they were last year. In a perfect world they could be a very respectable 4-6 this year with a team that still isn't very good, if they can manage that the horizon is bright. If they stumble out of the blocks and head into week 7 winless the heat will be on Stacy almost immediately

You know…This sounds exactly like me regarding Orrville last year…

I have other, specific information about the team - like personnel and offensive scheme.....but I'm not going to put that info out there. I like Kevin a lot and don't want to put information out there that could hurt his cause....even if he is at Manchester. Let's just say this, it's not going to look like your normal manchester teams from the past, that's for sure....

Honestly this sounds like an early iteration of the Federal League. When the OCC ended in the late 80s, Dover, Phila, and Wooster were invited to join in a two tiered set up. Dover declined and joining the smaller Senate League for a year before joining the NBC, while Wooster and Phila accepted the invitation. The original divisions where:

American:
- Perry
- Jackson
- GlenOak
- Hoover
- Alliance
- Timken

National:
- Louisville
- Lake
- Canton South
- New Phila
- Wooster

Dover would have been a nice fit in that 6th National spot. I’d like them to recreate this, or something similar to this with:

American:
- Perry
- Jackson
- GlenOak
- Hoover
- McKinley
- Green
- (Massillon?)

National:
- Louisville
- Lake
- Dover
- New Phila
- Wooster
- Alliance
- (Marlington?)

Sorry not trying to hijack the PAC thread…

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard of most of these teams getting together to form a league... Some iterations had West Holmes and/or Massillon in place of Alliance.

Is there any actual interest by the schools? I often see it suggested (and I myself have suggested some versions of it), but I’ve never really heard an official stance by any of the schools. Just curious why they wouldn’t wanted to. I’m sure current league affiliations are the biggest hurdle, but Louisville and Dover, at least, I’m sure are pushing for something as neither can find a home.

I’d also like to add that I don’t think Massillon and CCC are really viable options. It seems like they’re independent by choice, while Dover and Louisville are not. If unnecessary pettiness could be put the side, Massillon would be a perfect 8th member of the Fed. CCC would fit with either the PAC or EBC, but they’ve never seemed to show any interest.

Two reasons why Lake would never leave the Fed with its current setup....travel expenses for the whole program....8th grade up is minimal with all schools close and as Rich says the moms do not want an 8th grader coming home at 9 pm (Boardman really wanted to stay in the Fed but it was the travel costs that helped decide)....other is with all schools close the amount of money brought in by gate receipts is a large amount. Green was not really strong about coming in to the league till they saw Lake's gate receipts and travel expenses for one year....then Revere looked like a long midweek trip for the 8th grade football team

Don't tell me they're going to do that fancy snap thingy .....:)

Raylan, I understand your reference to folks saying it was a terrible hire, but I and many others were not in that crowd. I've said it's a great time to pivot, tie in to the many other changes going on in Manchester (new building, new stadium, and relatively new administration). They'll be just fine, that is the nature of the community.

Last thing, don't forget that the recent middle school teams had success, those kids have now come into the high school. I know, I know, middle school means nothing, but it is better than having those kids struggle there and then have to learn how to win in high school.

MWHS would not be a “perfect 8th member of the Fed.” Let’s be honest, football is the determining factor for admittance to any league. Because of that, it would not be advantageous for the Tigers. However, league membership would be okay for the other sports. In fact, Massillon does play many of those schools at the present time in different athletic contests. You are absolutely correct about “unnecessary pettiness.”🤔

1. Eating lunch & choked on my tuna sub when I read "fancy snap thingy". 🤣
2. I wasn't in that crowd either. Obviously the new staff hasn't "done" anything yet, but from the outside looking in this was a really good hire for the Panthers. I know 90% of Manchester history things have been done a certain way, but the criticism of the hire struck me as extremely myopic. I'm sure there are a lot of D5-7 schools in NE Ohio that would have been very happy to get the guy the Panthers got.
3. COMPLETELY agree about the overall changes being a plus. All those things together have the future looking bright in New Franklin. Just have to brace folks to brace for the fact games will be a little longer now with more than 8 passes per game. ; )

Fair enough- I know there are many factors (and some can be pretty complex). From an enrollment and geography standpoint, it looks like a perfect fit. Ultimately, as long as an independent is able to schedule the games that they want, I guess it doesn’t really matter- and it definitely seems like Massillon is doing fine in that area.

Even better....it was Kevin being hired by Manchester that one...I found PACtion and two....you fine people got me!!!!!! YAY!!!!! Go Team Fight!

You know what? I go away from #PACtion for a short while and all hell breaks loose here on the thread.

We've got redoing the Federal League and/or Ohio Cardinal Conference into divisions, the inevitable "Massillon should be Fed school number 8" comments (Gosh dang - Gannett has REALLY gotten into the brains of sports fans with 20 years of repetitive talk about that; that's better than a My Pillow for putting me to sleep, IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, FOLKS!), and now Raylan, a man of mystery we all admire, wants to totally turn the Manchester traditions upside down and bring in not only the "fancy snap" but I suspect he puts pineapple on his Galluch's Pizza. Rumor is Don Brand's Pizza would throw you out if you suggested such a thing.

KOTITE knows disasters and lemme tell ya - it's a disaster because we had all these HOT TAKES on Yappi and no one mentioned Mogadore as school #8 in PACtion OR as a member of the proposed new Federal League or Ohio Cardinal Conference.

Mogadore will take Jackson on - enrollment doesn't matter!

KOTITE > OUT**

**No hard feelings towards anyone; continue PACtioning with #PACtion.

I've got yoga at 5:45 today. Namaste.

…I’m sorry.

Well, thank you.

What you wrote is pretty logical but these schools with leagues move like glaciers or Mark Mangino trying to move away from the pile of free crab legs.
You almost ruined it for me with crab legs and Mark Mangino vision....but I like crab legs to much to have that make me leave the table...lol

This was all mentioned with the previous regime ...

True story, once, in the pre-passport to get into Canada days, was over-served in Detroit and ended up in Windsor, Ontario. So, by definition, that makes me an "INTERNATIONAL man of mystery."
Ahh, Windsor. The casino everyone from Ohio used to drive to when they were not yet 21.

I remember one time, playing NL Texas Hold'em with $2/$5 blinds. I'm at the table with 2 friends I play with weekly, and everyone else at the table knew it. I was in a big pot - hundreds of dollars. I make a big bluff, and my friend 2 seats over calls out, "Bluff!" Thankfully the other guy didn't call, or my friend (RIP) would have been in big trouble!
