To what? Irrelevance like the old days?what happened to Clinton Massie? Is it time for a change?
1920s football is successful. The formula for playoff success in Ohio is running the ball. State champions every year pound the ball overall. There are anomalies but overall the boring offenses are more successful. They need someone with a brain. You can't run the ball every down and expect to beat a rich team like Indian hill. They're playing 1920s football in 2024.
It was a 16-13 overtime loss in the second round of the playoffs, so maybe isn't the end of the world. How many State Championships does Indian Hill have in the last 20 years? Clinton-Massie has 3(2012,2013,2021) and Indian Hill has 0 so maybe 1920s football isn't so bad. They need someone with a brain. I predict Indian hill could become a power house this decade. They have the money to hire the personell. Word on the street is Mike Norvell will interview with them in the off season. It was a 16-13 overtime loss in the second round of the playoffs, so maybe isn't the end of the world. Army throws the ball 5-10 times a game. You just need a little bit of a threat and that changes everything.Army is ranked and is 10-0 using their 1920s offense btw
There isn't a big comparison here. Army throws the ball.Army is ranked and is 10-0 using their 1920s offense btw
From their league website, Massie had 11 passing TD's on 44 pass attempts this season. Does that qualify as a little bit?Army throws the ball 5-10 times a game. You just need a little bit of a threat and that changes everything.
I would think so. That's 4 passes a game. From their league website, Massie had 11 passing TD's on 44 pass attempts this season. Does that qualify as a little bit?
As long as it's not a statistical anomaly where they only throw in the 4th quarter trying to come back. I'm basing my observation on watching them live and seeing 1 passing attempt in a 10 point loss. If that's the exception and not the rule that's fineFrom their league website, Massie had 11 passing TD's on 44 pass attempts this season. Does that qualify as a little bit?
That's every state champion. Like the saying goes, it's not the Xs and Os, it's the Jims and Joes. The 3 state titles were because Massie had exceptional talent those years
Just a little history, Domsitz is in his second stint at Alter. he did leave previously for Northmont finishing with a 53-55 record there before returning to Alter in the late 90's. So, I guess you could say he did leave for a bigger job, but found his way back. Coach Domsitz will also throw the ball when his personnel dictates it. Malik Zaire and Austin Boucher both finished just shy of 2,000 yards passing in their senior seasons. All that being said, you're right many of the criticisms are the same.I know. I’ve heard the same thing about coach domsitz. Seems silly to me. Both mcsurley and domsitz are great coaches with multiple state championships. Both are loyal to their school because im sure they both could have left for bigger jobs. I would be willing to bet there are a lot of games that both of them wish they could have back but I bet both would say they wouldn’t change a thing about the way they run their programs. Obviously they still have a lot to offer and a passion for the game or they wouldn’t be there.
They play a weak league. The only time they throw is when they are playing weak opponents. Until they fix than situation they will continue to fall short in the postseason. From their league website, Massie had 11 passing TD's on 44 pass attempts this season. Does that qualify as a little bit?
Continue to fall short in the postseason? They won it all just three years ago! Three State Championships in the last 12 years including back to back titles is far from falling short. As someone stated earlier a majority of schools in Ohio will never see that type of success. Do you expect them to win a state championship every year? They play a weak league. The only time they throw is when they are playing weak opponents. Until they fix than situation they will continue to fall short in the postseason.
Outside of Kirtland and ML, Massie has had as much as if not more success than any other program across the state in the last 10-15 years. You have to be a disgruntled parent or something. This might be the worst take on Yappi and that is saying something...................They play a weak league. The only time they throw is when they are playing weak opponents. Unfortunately, their latest levy went down earlier this month. It's failed a couple of times now, but they were able to raise the funds to fix the stadium turf earlier this year. From what I've been hearing the last thing people should be concerned about is football. The entire district is in the ditch and football is the only thing that is positive right now. Weird community.
If I remember correctly earlier this year I thought that the district was trying to save funds and they were going to cut McSurelys teaching position, but they were going to work around it and keep him as the Head football coach, which they obviously have done, but there was a lot of buzz that McSurely might resign back then. I wonder what’s going on financially at CM. Whatever it is can not be good.Unfortunately, their latest levy went down earlier this month.
