GCL Coed 2024

CJ hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record all season. This is only the second time they scored more than 3 TDs in a game. Alter can definitely make a run but they’ll need way more than they’ve shown to get past Clinton Massie in the second round.
Yeah, Alter heard all the Massie talk last year.

Alter was much better last year. Congrats on a 5-5 season while averaging 16 points a game.
You simply have no clue the injuries Alter dealt with this year and all the young players they have. Being 5-5 is a miracle. But, whatever makes you feel better. Ask CJ how much fun they were to play tonight.

As it stands now Alter would play 7-2 Taylor. This is likely to change after Saturday night but food for thought.

Alter should end up anywhere from an 8-10 and trust me, theyhave had everyone’s attention since last year. 5-5 or not.

No one is going to take Alter lightly. They were in the state title game last year. The point is beating a 5 win CJ team is not what is putting the region on notice.

Whoever draws Alter 1st or 2nd round should be terrified. You have to play a brand of toughness in order to win that most teams aren’t willing to do. If you do win, you’ll be limping the next round. If they get the QB back, I’m not convinced they are a much different team than last year.

Alter does seem to find a way, the Badin / Mcnick game should be a great game. I’m sure Alter would like to have those two games back. 7 total points between the two games and Alter might of been GCL champs
They are not but seem to be gaining momentum at the right time.

I have a lot of respect for Earl White and what he’s done in the city league. He’s coached some great teams but I’ve just never seen the fit at CJ. The double wing offense is great when you’re ahead but as we saw last night once you go down a couple scores, you’re in a load of trouble. CJ has always had the kids on the outside to stretch the field and typically strong QB play. No wins vs. a team worth a damn is extremely frustrating, especially getting boat raced by your biggest rival having an average year by their standards. Is CJ just kicking the can down the road until Colvin makes his return? Heard he’s working in the building. I’d love to hear an outsider’s perspective because it feels like CoEd coaches have found out how to shut down this one dimensional offense.

I'm interested to see what McNick is able to get done on offense.

Yea CJ looked flat out bad last night. 3rd and 16 and you're down a couple scores and you're still running a play with no wide receivers to try for 3 yard gain? I don't get it.

Last year in the playoffs against Tipp and CJ needs two scores with about 3 minutes left and it was also just an offense trying to gain 3 yards. No sense of urgency when the season was on the line.

Also during that Tipp game last year the CJ quarterback was hitting receivers in stride throwing 40-50 yards with ease during warmups and halftime yet they never throw the ball. It's just bizarre.

Plus the participation numbers are really down for CJ. There's plenty of D6-7 teams with many more kids dressing for games than CJ.

Man, those days of Place are long, long gone.

The athletes that CJ has are among the best in the conference. Saying that to run the offense White wants to run you have to have dudes up front that can block. Wasn't at the game and have not seen CJ all year but maybe that is the issue. You cannot get your guys the ball in space if the O-line cannot block. sounded like plenty of times last night Alters defense was in the backfield. Also agree on the numbers for CJ, feel as if their team shrinks little by little every year. The crazy thing about that is from what I hear their attendance is rising so that shouldn't be the issue.

Ive only seen the Wright kid play once but looking at their roster, I feel like they are also graduating a lot of key players who make sense for that offense. Next year, they might be in a world of trouble. Coed teams are usually tough up front and it’s not a huge advantage for them to run the wing against this division. I also think it’s a bad fit personnel wise once you lose kids like Wright. The better athletes on the outside that they traditionally get seem to be headed elsewhere.

Earl White, while at Thurgood, had Alter's number. Hard to believe he can't replicate that type of performance, and more, at CJ. I must be missing one or more key differences between the two schools because one isn't Earl White.

Alter is 9-2 vs Thurgood all time. Not sure he had Alter’s number.

They're still D3 so the students are there.

I also saw CJ play Miamisburg , who clearly isn't very good this year, but they did body a physically bigger team and a team that had about 3x the amount of dressed players. So it's not for nothing.

Now I'm not sure about injuries for CJ throughout the year but it was pretty clear Alter 's front 7 (but really it's all 11 since everyone is in the box with no wide receivers) completely dominated all night.

Little attention but tonight will decide which team is mouthbreather # 1 of the Bishops: Carroll and Fenwick. Who gets honors in '24?
