GCL Coed 2024

Heck they were 4-0 at one point. Maybe they need to leave the GCL and schedule a bunch of D5-6 teams?
They must have had their basketball coach scheduling their non-con this year. They love inflating their records by scheduling poor non-cons over on Linden Ave.

For scheduling purposes in all sports I'd hate to see them leave but for football that would be a no brainer for them.
Yeah, I don’t want them to leave…just a tongue in cheek remark. Carroll has had some recent success in other sports.

question here, is Dom ready to retire? I think I heard some talk about it before, but I'm not sure he is an amazing coach best in the area, but how much longer will he coach for?

Yeah there is a better chance that McNick leaves the GCL than any other team due to travel
I don’t know if they leave but the travel is costly for the school budget. Remember we’re not just talking about football.. boys and girls sports..baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, golf, wrestling, swimming, lacrosse, track. Far different then the ECC for instance were the farthest distance might be 20 miles.

I think CHCA and Roger Bacon would be goods to the GCL. Both schools seem to have established some good rivalries across a number of sports and their current conference isn't the best.

Roger Bacon and Purcell Marian dropped out of the GCL a few years ago because they were regularly losing. Bacon still plays Badin and McNicholas but has been outmatched. So not sure they would be interested.🤷🏼‍♂️
As for CHCA do they want to be part of a Catholic conference?

I think that the MVC is probably screwed long-term but I don't ever see CHCA joining the GCL. There's more likely to be a Cincy small private school conference with the Country Days, Seven Hills, MVCA, Purcell, Bacon, and McNick in the future, in my opinion

Yeah perhaps but McNick is now D3 and growing. Would these privates want to be in a conference with a possibility dominant school? Time will tell I guess. Of course this is all speculative. Ii haven’t heard any talk of them leaving the GCL Coed since about 2018/19 when they had 2/3 the current enrollment. (487v 659)

CHCA Middle School and Elementary School Teams compete in the Catholic Leagues (GCCYL) for Basketball, Volleyball, and couple other sports. I also know they tried to get in the Catholic League for Football (GCYL) as well but were denied, mainly because a bunch of West Side folks run the League. CHCA is really trying to grow their brand via Athletics and they are also starting to get more incoming high school students from the traditional catholic middle schools. I think they would jump at it if given a chance. I don't think they are going to find much competition in the MVC for much longer for most sports.

As for Roger Bacon I was always told they left the GCL-Coed due to travel. Bring CHCA to the mix and that changes things a bit.

Travel wasn’t it. Purcell and Bacon left because they hit a rough patch in football and couldn’t compete. This was back when the rest of the leauge couldn’t even come within two touchdowns of Alter.

2-5
2-5
1-6
0-7
2-5
2-5

that's why RB left the GCL lol

their basketball team had a lot of success during that time but 6'4" , 6"6 and 6'8" will help with that.

Baseball was "competitive" but not vs the top half.
