Is it ok if we start a gambling thread? With it now being legal for the most part I think there might be some decent discussions about it. I mostly play horses so i will talk about what I am doing in regards to that but I pay attention to gambling industry trends and other noteworthy news.

Does anyone here gamble or like to discuss it? If there isnt a crowd for it I will stick to twitter.

I enjoy it to some extent. Very much enjoyed the British Open last year when I hit on Molinari at 50/1.

I think Golf will be a great game for in game betting. They should embrace gambling.

The few sports I have made have all been unders in UK games. Been on a streak with those.

For those that maybe want to see how they would do gambling without spending money, this is a good site. I think if you get to 100 bucks you can cash out or transfer it to a sportsbook

Thanks for sharing. I dabbled in college 8-10 years ago on free sites and pay sites. Lost a few hundred bucks altogether. Now with a young family I have to be a bit tighter with money but playing for free again sounds fun.

Sure wish I would have bet the under on this year’s Super Bowl
That could’ve been a nice pay day !

Still waiting for in game prop bets to take hold. Talk about a way to get folks to watch MLB again, take action on every AB. The metrics guys will be working over time both for the players and the books.

Somewhat related I heard a guy that works for Caesars during an interview talk about what is the best sport from their perspective take action on, he said it was any big Euro soccer match followed by the NFL. They are looking for volume and those sports bring the biggest $s with action usually evenly split, that is why the max bet allowed is so high compared to other sports. The follow up question was which sport was the toughest and he said hands down the WNBA. While he said there appears to be no fixing there is serious drama that goes on behind the scenes that some folks are privy to that does affect the outcome of games, some folks got unfairly good at handicapping this sport with this intel. At Ceasars this sport has the lowest max bet allowed because of this.

In game prop betting is a thing in New Jersey. You can already do it during a horse race which is wild, need good internet though.

Exchange wagering will be the future and I personally can't wait.

With British books like William Hill taking over you are seeing a totally different "bookmaker". They dont try to manage the risk by offsetting bets, instead they just lower the limits for players who win over time. It is turning into a joke but that is the norm in the UK. You are even seeing them do manual approvals for bets made.

For example saw a guy try to make a 1500 wager at 15-1 on Philly to win the NBA championship through william hill. After the manual confirm they flagged the bet and changed the odds to 10-1. Gambler decided not to take the bet. They couldnt even manage the risk on a potential $22,500 bet .

6/5 black jack has been a hot topic and probably a reason why casinos are hurting right now. Add in 000 roulette and you will find more and more gamblers leave the casino.

Amazes me how they dont see the big picture.

I have yet to see a 000 in a casino, that is insane. Even so Euros are amazed when they play roulette in LV and see that 00.

In a casino I am mostly about craps. I play the pass line with full odds to see if I can get some working capital, then I place 6 & 8 and then if the table or shooter is hot buy 4 & 10. Never do I place hard ways or anything else in the middle of the table. There is a reason why the pass/don't pass line is this little sliver on the table with no mention of odds and the lousy bets like the field and hard ways are big boxes clearly marked and hawked by the stick man.

Check out the articles about it online. Lot of backlash over it on the strip

There are still a few 0 roulette tables but it is usually for high dollar bettors

I wonder what folks holding those Duke futures are thinking today? Even if Zion gets healthy there are many saying, especially NBA players, he should shut it down for the balance of the year. And from what I saw last night after he left the game their chalk status would be wiped away.

The jack went down hill about 1-2 years ago when they listened to the millennials complaining that they wanted more variety on table games, so they added "circus versions" of blackjack by making subtle changes to the game and odds. Then they got rid of the low minimum section in favor of more slot machines. Any yes, the dreaded 6/5 blackjack is on the first floor.

Very few regular blackjack tables available now because of all the sections, so you cannot table hop when the shoe is horrible.

Table games dont have near as much ROI but in the long run i think it is necessary to have them (along with a "normal"/"fair" house advantage) players need to at least have the feeling that they can win. Not all gamblers are stupid and you will see them move away from casinos if they arent given fair odds.

Mgm is laying off 3% of it it's work force. Time to wake up if they want to stay in business

If they want to see the model for failure look no further in how race tracks treat their customer base. The short term gains dont last. Big picture is tough for some to see.
