Excess Deaths

You’re assuming people are wearing masks when they should.

This is part of the fundamental problem with general population mask wearing mandates. Human nature will always impact these efforts and people will not fully comply, or they'll wear ineffective masks or they'll wear them incorrectly. This is a completely predictable outcome of general mask wearing mandates. This is one of the primary reasons that mass mask wearing doesn't work in the real world.

Now if you could immediately execute non mask wearing people for violating the mandate and hang their bodies on the nearest electric pole then you might see a positive effect as mask wearing compliance would improve significantly. But even you guys on the left aren't that bloody minded or totalitarian inclined. Are you?

Haven’t seen any noncompliance have you? Kroger today was 100% compliant ??
The trip to Kroger isn’t really the problem, is it?

TBH, they’ve gotten the messaging all backwards. We got people to mask in situations where it’s less important but they don’t in situations they probably should (social gatherings, visiting other peoples’ homes, etc.).

And you think this is a realistic approach? That people will mask up when they visit family & friends or attend intimate social gatherings?

It's funny how you guys argue that abstinence is a silly approach to controlling teenage pregnancies and the spread of STD's given the way teenagers are. Well expecting the general population to comply with mask wearing to the extent you want is even less realistic.

If mask wearing was truly effective then even a 75/25 compliance would see big effects in reducing covid spread and deaths. That it doesn't indicates that even under the best of conditions the effect is minimal which is what most of the scientific literature on this says.

You guys can't be this thick headed. You must be frauds pushing an agenda.

As an aside have you read that airplane study I linked to yet? Pretty cool experimental design.

It’s the idiots that sit in tiny bars all day mask less and then go to work and don’t get tested because the government won’t support frequent employer based testing and spread the crap all over the place to people that are trying to be responsible. That is the problem....not buying milk.

We’re nowhere near 75/25 in the situations where spreading actually occurs.

So I don’t really need a mask in Kroger but should wear one at home? All this for disease with a death rate south of 0.3%?

Well not after ten ??

And how would you know? Are you making this up out of thin air again?

I live in the same county as Zeeman does and I can vouch that at least in public EVERYONE is wearing a mask. Yet we're rated red by the Governors goofy warning system.

And where is this actually happening? On an episode of Cheers?

And that 0.3% is likely to drop to 0.1% or less when all is said and done with the pandemic.
Wait, Ic said though if you’re fat and have high bp that you have a 10% chance of dying ?? That should be like 150 mill has a 10% chance! What about China? They don’t have many fatties so they should be ok

I've been to China a lot Zeeman and they do have fatties and man do they smoke. It's like you stepped into a 1950's B&W film noir movie.

Self-reported mask wearing is less than 50% at social gatherings, church, visiting other households, etc.

Can you link to the study supporting this conclusion? Or do I have to go look it up again?

Oh and unless you start executing people for not wearing masks at home or with their families or when visiting friends you will never see high levels of compliance here. It's unrealistic to expect to. Mass mandates fail because of basic human nature.

Your problem is that no one is dying in any significant proportions.

Your problem, and sophists like you, is that you're selling wolf tickets, and no one is buying.
Ohio just had our highest day for new hospital admissions. Which is on top of the states highest hospitalization number the day before. Still a fully manageable number but let’s not pretend the COVID watch is all rainbows and unicorns right now.

Where is what happening? Massive super spreaders? All over the place including Trump rallies. Your BS stories that everything is closed is total BS. Everything in open. I’m in Florida for the last two weeks and the next 3. Half the businesses enforce mandates half do not since the state has zero rules. Florida will implode this winter. The economic situation will not improve but will degrade. There is zero leadership from the Federal Government. You will still be peddling the same BS in the spring when everything is still in the tank. Save your breath and take a 4 month nap and then you can spew crazy crap when things are even worse.

But the death rate keeps going down ?? This is such a strange affliction
