Division IV Region 13

The penalty on the extra point really hurt Struthers against Poland. I was surprised they still went for two at that point.
I watched the end of this game and I was shocked when Struthers didn’t decide to kick after the penalty.

Well that explains it. WB has had plenty of struggles with extra points over the years. We have a girl from the soccer team doing them this year. She struggled early but has been automatic the last half of the season.
WB kicking struggles off the top of my head. Went 9-1 in ‘84 with only loss to Lake 7-6. ‘91 Lost regional final to 11-0 Steubenville 7-6. ‘93, went 9-1 with only loss 14-12 to 10-0 Louisville . ‘98, Missed the state title game losing to 13-0 Walsh 13-12. ‘01 , 8-2 with two 7-6 losses to Southeast and Louisville. Frustrating.

Just curious...has she improved to the point where WB would attempt field goals outside the 10? I know a lot of teams that have competent kickers but they wouldn't attempt a field goal unless it was close to xp range

Not really. She’s consistent but she doesn’t have a huge leg.

That is the trouble with having girls for kickers and punters, they may be accurate but they never can kick it as far as the boys. I remember watching a video of the first ever girl to kickoff in a D-I football game and everytime her kickoffs looked liked onside kicks and that same game they went for a really short FG and she was accurate but the ball fell at least 10 yards short. Point being is that girls can't really reliably kick long field goals, due to not have the leg strength. Boys have the leg strength but they often aren't as accurate as girls.

Congratulations to Buchtel. Both teams missed multiple scoring opportunities but Buchtel did what they had to. They made the plays they had to to win and once again Mooney did not. The Cardinals moved the ball pretty well but Buchtel forced 4 big turnovers at critical times, including a pick six. The Cards just could not finish drives against the Griffs. Of course, going for it on 4th down at their own 29-yard line with a 3 point lead on the first possession of the second half didn't help. That gave Buchtel great field position and they did what they were supposed to do and scored the TD a few plays later to go in front 12-9. It was a beautiful pass and catch in the back of the endzone for the score. It stayed that way until late in the 4th quarter. Again congrats to Buchtel, they deserved to win but the Cards played hard and never quit.

Good luck to the Griffs going forward.
