D4 Region 13 2024

As in Bill Belichik????????? And I agree 100% the Browns installed turf for a few schools including Glenville but pretty much everyone has it. And you said it, if Struthers can, anyone can. Good luck tomorrow night 💪🏾
Yes. Bill's father played for Struthers.
FWIW. I don't have a problem with the Tarblooders. The parochials have been doing shenanigans for as long as I've been alive. I'm all in for the publics getting any advantage the parochials always get.
Good luck to the Tarblooders tomorrow!

Struthers also has one facility for all of its football teams and soccer teams so you're talking approximately 50 home events (assuming you have JV soccer and your JV and freshman fb teams play there). West Branch has a separate field for soccer and a separate field for lower level football games when needed. I believe there have been less than 15 events on the stadium field plus it's been a dry fall.
But, whatever. It is what is and we ain't getting turf in the next 8 days.

Why would you have a problem with the Tarblooders? I don’t think the private schools do shenanigans, they just don’t have the same restrictions that public schools have, but they can be beat and they have been beat. Good luck to you guys too!

Struthers does not have a boys soccer team. Girls used to play up on center rd.

I never understood why people think that’s an advantage. If a team is faster, they’ll be faster on any surface they play on. I think that’s a copout for schools that are too cheap to install turf.
Thats what I keep saying. Fast guys are faster tgan slow guys regardless of what surface they are running on. If I can beat you on a track I can beat you on turf, grass, mud etc etc.

A crappy field, just like crappy weather, always evens the playing field for a team with a speed disadvantage by making the speed difference less.

Now I haven't seen West Branch like I have Glenville, so I can't really comment on what that difference is or if there is one to begin with.

And that is why the game against Buchtel will be interesting. Buchtel Has a good sized line and a do everything QB.
Buchtel isn't Glenville though. I really don't think Perry struggles with anyone outside of Glenville in the region.

Is Perry that small? I saw them in person once this year against Kirtland, but the rain pelting my face made it an annoying game to watch. I should have saved myself the long drive out there and just watched it online.

Other than that, I just caught some of the Geneva game online. I didn't think Perry looked huge, but they didn't seem small either. They did have more speed than I expected, though.

The returning o-linemen from last years state title game were 6'2" 209, 5'10" 166, 5'10" 188 and 6'2" 197. Im sure they got a little bigger since last year but still.

They do have very good speed and their DBs had some of the best defensive back play I have seen in high school ball. They will be scrappy and a tough out but I just don't think they can hold up against the Glenville lines. I saw the Tarblooders at the Canton 7v7 tourney/big man challenge and their linemen looked liked a D1 college line.

Yeah, I know Glenville is big. I just didn't think Perry looked that small. Maybe Kirtland was smaller than I realized, because Perry was bigger than they were. (I know they're D6, but they're Kirtland.)

All kidding aside I will comment quickly on our field and then move onto actual game stuff. First our school campus is one of the best in the county. It is easy to get in and out of. Has plenty of good parking.... The only thing holding us back from hosting big playoff games is the fact that we don't have turf. There is multiple reasons why we don't have turf... One is WB hasn't passed a school levy in forever... one of the longest active streaks in Ohio. We had a "donor" willing to donate a majority of the money strictly for new turf and was turned down because the money would have to be distributed across all sports and extra curricular activities ( Band, Choir, Musicals).

All kidding aside .... Yes it is Grass however the field is kept in immaculate condition... They don't even use it for practices. I have seen first hand that when a team hasn't played on grass in 3-4 years it does make a small difference... very small... but I have seen players struggle with footing if they don't have the proper cleats.

Hopefully we can talk more about our "Cow Pasture" next week as long as we both take care of business tonight! Good luck to every ones teams on this thread... and as always GO WARRIORS!

I'm looking to coming down there next week if everything goes to plan tonight. Love seeing new stadiums/environments

I agree that it is a nice stadium and the times I have been there the field was in excellent condition. As far as getting in and out, is that RR track that crosses SR 165 north of the stadium still active? Several years ago there was a very slow moving train crossing SR 165 just as a playoff game crowd was trying to leave. It wasn't easy getting out of there that night. :)

Good luck to both teams tonight.
