Clark/ Maravich

It blows my mind that you are so upset by this and waste so much time on it.

She's a great college player who scored more points than anyone. Plus, she shoots 3's from really far out, people like that. And she throws a lot of great passes for assists. She seems like a nice girl and people like her. What is the big problem?

Stop looking for conspiracies everywhere.
I'm not wasting time and what else is there to talk about? LeBron going over 40,000 points? Yes, Clark is the top female college player today and by all accounts seems like a great person as well. Just don't think that this is somehow a "shift" in sports viewing. There is really little else going on now with football being over, the NCAA's men's getting ready to crank it up and the NBA in the midseason doldrums. This is all finely marketed by the powers that be who actually got a pretty good deal with the NCAA basketball contracts that had to include womens sports. We all know that the networks main goals are ratings, ratings, ratings. They have a golden child in Clark and are cashing in right now.

Scoring the most points in women’s basketball apparently isn’t enough. Gotta compare it to the men’s.
Yes, it is, just clarify that she's scored the most points in NCAA women's basketball history. We don't group up anything else in sports? This is only done to market the women's game for the networks.

And this is a problem why?

What I have learned from all of this is that the greatest men's and women's BBall players in NCAA history are white.
1st of all who cares, 2nd Pistol Pete was a very good player but his teams at LSU never made the NCAA tourney (tough to do) and only once his final season did LSU have a winning conference record. Would Maravich be considered the best college player ever doubtful, Alcindor, Chamberlain, Bird, Jordan, Magic or even Shaq might be considered better overall players among others.

Actually no, scoring points only simply means you play in alot of games, play alot of minutes and shoot the ball alot. Now Clark is a great passer and teammate, so she certainly is in the list of top female college players ever. Pistol Pete isn't really even in the conversation on the guys side.

Of course Pete is in the discussion of all time college greats. He was a dominant player that happened to be on not so good teams.

Alot of people considered his style of play as a major reason his teams were not so good.
There are always haters, mostly small jealous people. The kind of people who are angry about Caitlin Clark getting attention.

Kentucky and Tennessee owned the SEC back then, and LSU was segregated at the time, so Maravich was not on a strong team. He was incredible, and is certainly in the conversation for best college player of all time, with Alcindor, Walton, Laettner and others. FWIW, he also is an NBA Hall of Famer.

His teammates were not so good. Put him on UCLA or Houston and his points go down, but he’s still a great player and would have won.
That's a great point, generally, the better the team, the more the points are spread out. Basketball is a team game and yet it's made to be so individual at times.
