Yes and no. By the later part of the 18th Century slavery was falling out of favor. The enlightenment was a positive force for it, Judaeo Christian values are more of a push, very contradictory role with the Bible supplying arguments for both the anti and pro slave forces.
Already 80 years before the Civil War Massachusetts had already abolished slavery, soon after it escaped British rule.
Britain's role is also contradictory. It was the 2nd leading transporter of slaves from Africa to the New World, especially the West Indies. And its Colonies in the Western Hemisphere the 2nd leading recipient especially the West Indies. For many years with its Navy protection it monopolized the trade. In the 19th Century it would abolish slavery and oppose the trade after it had made its great profits in the earlier period.
And in the United States, we were one of the last nations to abolish the institution. And the credit for that belongs only to part of our population, a large section of our nation fought to prevent it at the cost of billions of dollars and 750,000 lives.

You also make the mistake of positioning the Atlantic slave trade as ground zero for human slavery. The fact is that it's only a blip on the screen when put up against the totality of slavery's history.
African slavery was as much about the Africans own belief in the practice as it was about the European & Arab buyers. Had Africans truly opposed slavery it's hard to imagine many people being taken out of Africa against their will. But African tribes profited greatly from the practice and supported it vigorously.
You also seem to ignore the flow of African slaves into the Muslim world. Arabs were taking slaves out of Africa LONG before the Europeans started and continue to take slaves out of Africa LONG after the Europeans stopped.

A blip what away to look at the kidnapping of over 11 million people and the death in transportation across the Atlantic of over 2 million people. And the sentencing of the survivors and their descendants to hundreds of years of chattel slavery, that adds up to almost incalculable number of people shortened lives of misery. I don’t know what kind of person can look up that as a “blip”
You continue to try to rationalize and excuse this atrocity. This is supposedly advanced, civilized and Christian western world. And a section of the United States fought a bloody war cost 750,000 lives so they could continue to hold millions in slavery. And all you can say is, well somebody else did bad stuff that excuses it, it was just a “blip.”
Yes it took the unique combination of Christian theology and European Enlightenment thinking to spark the great revolt against Slavery. So what's your point? Taking fellow human beings as slaves has been a ubiquitous practice for as long as civilization has existed. It was only through a special combination of two of humanity's greatest philosophies that the practice was ended. You should be celebrating this. Not poo pooing it.
First off when you cite "11 million people" taken out of Africa it represents a lot more then slaves brought to the USA. It represents the TOTAL # of slaves going to North America, the Caribbean and South America. This of course illustrates just how global & common slavery was. Oh and when the Europeans got to the Western Hemisphere what practice were the natives already enthusiastically engaging in? Slavery! Imagine that.
And yes the Atlantic slave trade was just a blip in the history of Slavery. I won't even mention the Roman or Chinese Empires as that would be to easy. So let's just focus on the 1,000 year history of the serfs in Russia. These people were slaves and cumulatively HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of them suffered under slavery. And that's just one example of many.
And for the record I'm not trying to "rationalize & excuse" slavery. I'm just trying to place the history of slavery into context so that it can't be abused to support your own 21st century virtue signalling.
If Trump committed crimes, why weren't they listed in the impeachment?

11 million people transported into chattel slavery. And of the 9 million or so who survived do you realize how large that population was. Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Surinam, Brazil all a large part populated with the ancestors of those slaves with significant populations in many of the other countries of the Western Hemisphere including 42 million in the United States. The total is a quarter of a billion people. And just about all them had their ancestors kidnapped from Africa and brought here. You realize the number of people who through the generations had to suffer chattel slavery that finally produced that current population. The black diaspora in the Americas or as you call it “a blip” If you don’t see the unmitigated atrocity of this you are beyond the pale and for you the Holocaust was a minor glitch in the progress of Christendom.
