A sign that football will be played this year -LaSalle players getting ready in the stadium

I dont think there was a real shot that football would NOT be played.

When the Rona does not skyrocket in the next few weeks due to these mass riots I believe more and more people will come to their senses that the country over reacted.

Closing in on over 2x more Americans dead in 3 months from Covid-19 than the entirety of the Vietnam War but yeah man total over reaction, gotta make sure I can get my $7.99 burger from Ruby Tuesday's or I just won't know what to do with myself

Don’t you mean “with covid” rather than from covid lol

Actually, Covid has been in Ohio for 5-months and the death toll hasn’t reached 2x of the 58,000 that were killed in Vietnam. But hey, nothing like fueling the panic.

Maybe you should ask yourself a couple of questions before berating people for wanting normalcy.

Why haven’t our politically independent “experts” in the FDA, NIH, and CDC developed a plan in the century since the 1918 pandemic that can be rapidly enacted that isolates and cares for the most vulnerable of our population in the event of a pandemic? This time it was Covid. Next time it could be RSV or a new influenza strain. Lots of congressional sessions and presidential terms in that 100-years, so it appears to be a complete breakdown.

Why did some of the state level leadership and medical experts continually recycle sick Covid patients back into long term care while they were still infectious? Reports are coming out the close to 30,000 of the dead occurred in federally funded long term care facilities. Other analysis puts that number at 50,000, and that is without full data from New York and no data from seven other states. Some estimates are saying that number could be as high as 70,000.

Let's get to 2 times the number of Americans that died in Vietnam before we talk about 4 times.

Who said anything about Ruby Tuesdays?

but zero deaths from the Flu in those same three months, so we have solved that problem.

Crazy that the flu season ended last month and the CDC reports roughly 40,000 deaths attributed to the flu, the 4th deadliest flu season this decade but yup no deaths at all.

Wanting normalcy and being willfully ignorant of the reality of the situation are two different things. There's no question that the entirety of the nation was ill-prepared for a pandemic of this scale but it's not as if government officials didn't do things to quell the spread of the virus the best they could. The closing of schools and restaurants likely saved an immeasurable amount of lives yet we consistently hear the same talking points regurgitated that it was an overreaction to do those things with 100,000 people dead. It's the same exact reaction as Y2K from the masses, because something didn't go as bad as it possibly could have it was a total overreaction while all the work and precautions put in place to minimize the damage is completely ignored.

Really, the CDC has NO common data collection system to monitor the incoming travelers at the outset. They relied on emailing thousands of emails to ports of entry every day and tried to collect data that way. They were using technology tools from the Clinton era in 2019 to try and compile data. Never requested funding to modernize until 2019. This information is out there. Not on fringe sites, but main stream media outlets, even some left leaning ones.

The agencies responsible for containing this are nothing but government bloat. Career scientists that are myopic to their specialty and nothing else. They failed miserably. They were ill equipped and didn’t even know it until the crap already hit the fan.

I’ll let you research the articles on your own. Very easy to find. Might help you in the future to actually find real data and critically think.

The more than 100,000 dead because it took us so long to react at all would likely beg to differ.

So are we still waiting on the vaccine for a disease that 99% of people recover from before opening everything up. Asking for a friend.

How did this become a medical forum let's talk about football ...

Through willful ignorance:

But go Lancers! Our team is as talented as ever and could be our best ever. It's exciting to see them on the field.

Will we leave our schedule at eight games with week three open now that Riverview Academy is not coming and week five open now that Buffalo St. Joseph isn't coming due to the pandemic. That would leave our L2 divisor at 80 and little wiggle room for losses.. Go Lancers!

probably not

Given the quality of schedule Lasalle will be playing for the forseeable future (the level of Harbins it will offer), along with the expansion of the playoffs in '21, I don't see the Lancers missing the postseason anytime soon.

Man, I needed to stay away from the debate forum as it was stressing me out to the point of nearly having a heart attack just to find it here.

Hey, if we can protest in mass numbers all across this country then we can put fans in the stands and open up society without limits. If we cannot do that then stop the protest as they are actually killing who we are trying to save.

Who heard the news about dewine allowing spectators to the Memorial golf tournament in Ohio thats a good sign for allowing fans to football games

They also haven't said anything about the plan. It could very well be that people have an assigned space and must stay there. I find it hard to believe DeWine would allow the first "Fan Event" happen without extreme measures. Ohio will have a world wide audience and the media will closely follow if there ends up being a breakout afterwards. As much as I say that sucks for the fans...the alternative is no fans.

my view is this if there is not a major COVID-19 outbreak from these protests then that proves it will be safe to have spectators at sporting events

I agree with that but don't think they'll allow it to be normal seating. Also, a huge outbreak could lead to another shutdown. This month is big

True, they'll just make it so restrictions are so strict it makes it impossible impossible for some to operate. The liability is again then put on local governments with no guidance

The reason I don't think there will be another shutdown is because we know a lot more about COVID-19 than we did in Mid-March in my opinion i think with the way we are opening up and the whole memorial golf tournament I think fall football with some kind of audience is about 95%

Over 4,000 people in close proximity to each other yesterday in downtown Cincinnati with no soical distancing.

With Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announcement Friday that casinos, racinos and amusement parks could open on June 19th, the state will be fully open again.
