I actually agree with this. I’ve kinda felt like this was going on as well. Again not in panic mode over a scrimmage. But they better find their best players and play them both ways. I don’t want to hear anything about it being a longer season etc. Either get the lead and pull guys going both sides out and play others or watch how long of a season this will be. I don’t care if anyone agrees with me or not. We don’t have 22 different starters anymore

Why do you think they (I’m assuming you meant the kids) are complacent? It’s a grind for these kids winter until the season. I know a few of your players and they haven’t been complacent, they’ve been going hard.
 
so does anyone have a handle who’s starting ? really curious about the OL and front 7 on defense i know it’s hard to tell from scrimmages but maybe someone has an idea ..

I don’t know honestly but here’s names in my opinion we better see on both sides of the ball. Again I don’t care what anyone says. Our seniors have to carry this team and they can

Wright…. OL not in the backfield
Davenport…yes defensively
Hack
Mitchell
Lenix
Gamble
Garner…. even has a Soph
McConnell possibly as well
Zimmerman
Carter possibly as well
Clemons possibly

Let’s just be real our underclassmen aren’t quite as talented as the last group and need some time. So rotate them in and out. Especially early on until we develop some others

They have to. We don’t need him back there as much as we need him at guard. They have to see this. Mitchell and Lenix and those guys can get a yard. I love big Mike but it’s time to move him up front
 
What’s really puzzling is watching 32 play full back more than any other back . Every practice all summer and now 2 scrimmages : How you go from starting last season to losing reps to guys that played freshman last year and DT.

he playing with the 2s 😏 ranked the 5th RB in stark county. Possibly could have been 1 or 2 if he hadn’t missed 8 games with high ankle sprain averaging 7.5 yards per carry before injury and 6.3 after

I think this year is going to depend on how well the O-line run blocks. It took till the middle of the regular season last year to establish a decent run game with the exception of Owens. Since we don't have that luxury this year our offense is going to rely heavily on our RBs. I'm sure we will have a balanced passing attack. Slaughter is a good QB with plenty of experience,but I don't expect him to have Justin Zwick numbers.

We can’t be a run first team if we don’t get our best players upfront. Mike needs to play on the o-line. Hes a big upgrade even without much experience so to speak. We will be fine but we have to use players right

Agree I thought the same thing last year. He's a big advantage on the line and a absolute beast He needs to play both ways.

He needs to play defense too. Is he getting any reps on defense?

Yeah it looked that way last year for the first five games but when your rushing for 185-250 yards after that and your QB and RBs are running all over the place hard to say the O-line was a problem
 
The O line wasn’t dominant run blocking last year and now they’re learning a new system and look pretty bad right now as a result. Instead of pretending that your strongest lineman is a RB they should’ve spent the offseason getting him some reps on the O line or put in a package with him at FB in the I formation

Maybe not the first 4 or five games but after that we ran all over teams with the QB and with the RBs

I agree he should’ve been up front all summer. I’m going to stop for now until I see what happens week 3.
