2024 Massillon Tigers

There’s the link to next weeks game
As far as 8 games go that’s the way it’s written
“8 games” not 8 games with NFHS teams
If it were to be 8 NFHS games I’d expect a whole lot more panic right now
And not from the fans but coaches and booster club
Only thing with Clarkson that makes me nervous is they had Iggy as 1-8 going into the playoffs not 2-8 due to Clarkson
But no where in the regulations does it specify nfhs teams for anything but harbins
I’ll reread all of the 2023 playoff regulations again to see if I missed something
And as of now there’s not an updated 24 playoff reg book just updated regular season
In 2020 Bishop Sycmore counted as a win not only a win but the 900th win so there’s that 😂View attachment 63268
Don't let Clarkson worry you. Your right they don't count just like NFL Academy but as you said it's playing a minimum of 8 games not 8 games against members of NFHS.

Look down a few posts from that I found the 2024 regulations finally
It specifies this unlike the 2023 regulations

I seen it. I just meant when you said you were worried about Clarkson. We knew that last year they didn't count that's why they had Iggy as only 1win going into playoffs. I took it as 8 games Total anyways even without the update. If it was 8NFHS games they would most likely say that. To me a minimum of 8 games means just 8 games unless it says different. I did see where it says if we have less than 8 harbin games we have to have permission which we must then .

Yep me too
And now with the clarification no way Massillon misses the playoffs
That’s when OSHAA gets to cash in on ticket sales
From a business standpoint you don’t want to miss the crowd Massillon brings 💵

Yeah they did add they must have permission if less than 8 harbin games to the update. From now on I would just schedule 8 games that count to be on the safe so one year they don't try the oh you guys weren't approved by the board yet with the games that don't count. Clarkson isn't horrible but most these teams that don't count for harbins with the exception of IMG academy isn't worth a crap anyways and does us no good. NFL academy I'm sure is trash just playing them for the experience to travel to Nike headquarters.

Appears the only way a none affiliate team can negatively effect Massillon in the playoffs is in the case of a points tie breaker for playoff seed
Where the out of state team would not be counted
I just read the 4 or 5 pages of the regulations and not seeing anything to be alarmed by

It overall can affect us in payoff seeding. If the teams don't count less harbins for us and that lead to not being one of the top 8 seeds and not getting two home playoff games. Say we go 7-2 this year losing to Bergen and Ed's thats like winning five games and doubt that is going to get you a top 8 seed, but it might and a home first round game. I doubt you get the second round at home though.Guess it depends how good the other teams do. Mck had two home games with a 7-3 record last year don't remember what seed they were but I think they were close to the bottom of the top 8 in the region. Bottom line in the future there is no need to schedule teams that don't count for harbins. The goal is to make the post season and win a championship and these teams don't contribute to that. They are nothing more than a glorified scrimmage don't matter if you win don't matter if you lose.

None affiliate teams can earn points as well
I’m really not thinking it’s a big deal

And we play a mainly d1 schedule so that’s .5 harbins per game more then most of d2s opponents
Then we are playing d1 teams that are actually expected to win so that’s even more points then playing a losing d2 team
Only part in all of the regulations that seems to matter is the tie breaker

I seen somewhere before where the teams that don't count they divide some balance of 8 teams for something. All that crap gets confusing to me. If you don't get less points for non harbin teams it would appear it don't matter then. I was under the impression that they don't count as in the same as not playing a game.

Remember they use a divisor. I am too lazy to go look at the moment to see if they have a minimum divisor. But at 5-2 looking at the region the last couple of years they will definitely be in the top 8. Examples last year Hoban and Ignatius had divisors in the 70s.

Thank God for manners. But, he "coulda been a Tiger" what were they thinking 🤔. There's been more than a few of those boy's who would have had college payed for with the proper coaching.

It's a shame when the playoffs have gotten that weak to make yet alone be a top seed with 5 wins. Way too many teams. I remember when if you only won 7 you might not make it. You Definitely weren't making it with 6 wins
