Higgins to Lasalle is very much a thing!
OK....this is a development.
No way, @PURPLE REIGN said it was McNick's coach who is the frontrunnerHiggins to Lasalle is very much a thing!
Currently, probably. There are no other leagues for the GCL South.
LaSalle is not a good job right now and that is the perception around a lot of coaching circles in the cityI disagree on the LaSalle job perception. I think its a great job right now. They are D3 and on the upper end of D3. They can compete and play tough competition all season long and then go and make a run in the D3 tournament.
An Independent? No League Title to play for?Currently, probably.
But conference alignment can change in the future. And even if they can't find a conference, they probably become more dominant as an independent. Will be interesting how LaSalle views all of this as they are the true outlier. The other three are fine competing in D1.
Yeah, I know. I'm just saying it will be official this week when they refuse to move up to D1, because the daddy ball guys want trophies over competition. There's no way Elder should be in D2.
Just asking why should they move up to D1? If all they have to go through is WW to get to a final 4 I'd take my chances thereWe are getting off topic but Daddy ball or not, if the referendum passes this week, I have heard from Elder coaches that they plan to elect to play D1.
If LaSalle drops out of the conference, the remaining schools really should look to go to another conference. A 3 team league is just foolish - the all league teams are already watered down.
Because they are capable of competing at high level D1. They've been doing it for 100 years. I do agree they don't have the athletes anymore to compete at the highest of the highest levels, like St Eds - but they are more than capable of competing at the D1 level.Just asking why should they move up to D1? As you said, does it make sense to play for a 3 team title? LaSalle is an outlier even if they stay.An Independent? No League Title to play for?
Been doing it for a long time. Agree a 4 Team League is not great but the athletes want to play for something in the regular season. As you said, does it make sense to play for a 3 team title? LaSalle is an outlier even if they stay.
Go Higgins!Shouldn't conference realignment conversation have its own thread? Why is it hijacking this one?
"All League" 2024 = "Everybody gets a trophy"..........See Basketball (4 Teams x 5 starters = 20 starters. Number of "All League = ?!)We are getting off topic but Daddy ball or not, if the referendum passes this week, I have heard from Elder coaches that they plan to elect to play D1.

Competing and contending for a state championship are two different things, they have a chance to compete for state title in D2 then they should do that, hopefully that'll attract the athletes like their competitors and then they can move up thenBecause they are capable of competing at high level D1. Teams should play where they are most competitive. They will dominate D2 until they reach the final handful of teams.
I usually only update the list when I see the official releases or Board Agenda minutes.Filled:
Madeira - kellett
Norwood- not official, but look for Ty Cass
Lasalle - Higgins
They have a chance to contend in D1 - it's just not a layup. These paths should be hard.Competing and contending for a state championship are two different things, they have a chance to compete for state title in D2 then they should do that, hopefully that'll attract the athletes like their competitors and then they can move up then
Understandable I don't know much about the others in the school but what I have seen is their best chance to win ad D1 level graduated the last two years and the classes coming behind are not close to the level of teams and athletes they hadThey have a chance to contend in D1 - it's just not a layup. That's my point. Do you change just for the layup path to probably the final four in every major sport? I think you lose alot of interest that way because you're playing teams fans have zero interest in watching. Not that many people are going to care, outside of parents and entitled daddy ballers, about running through a bracket of teams that are very mediocre. It absolutely diminishes the feat, especially for a team that has had major success in D1 in pretty much every major sport.
They haven't competed at the highest of highs lately because they refuse to change, not because the kids got worse. They could 100% challenge for D1 titles with a few minor tweaks. But they won't, because those rosters spots are accounted for. Been saying it for 10+ years, and you can't come to any other conclusion than this. They don't want to evolve and get better, so they're moving down a division. That's weak as hell.
They have ALL OF THE tools and resources to make it happen. That's what drives me nuts.
You're right - the talent is way down. And it's because people have caught on to how they do things. Top talented basketball players don't seek out Elder because they know how controlled it is. It's literally almost 100% feeder kids from feeder programs from 3rd grade on, because all of the daddies control it that way. They hand pick the teams, and those are the kids that make the picked teams in 7th and 8th grade, and make the rosters when they get to Elder. It's been that way for 20+ years. All controlled by past players and their buddies. They NEVER open it up city-wide because they know it would mean half the team could lose their entitled spots.Understandable I don't know much about the others in the school but what I have seen is their best chance to win ad D1 level graduated the last two years and the classes coming behind are not close to the level of teams and athletes they had
Elder had some down years10-20 yrs ago and I would argue that changed when they started the little panther program. Seems like they have been ranked top ten in the state for like 8 straight years now, including a #1 ranking a couple years ago. They have a chance to contend in D1 - it's just not a layup. These paths should be hard.

Can I pat myself on the back though?Another spot on prediction by @PURPLE REIGN and his "sources".
Stick to whining about loud music and cheaters, you're much better at that.
You sure can. You called it 1-2 weeks ago with conviction. Can I pat myself on the back though?
Interesting that folks on here seem to indicate LaSalle is not a good job and Hamilton is a good job.LaSalle is not a good job right now and that is the perception around a lot of coaching circles in the city
His son will be an 8th grader next year and goes to private grade school. Don’t think he was ever going to send his son to Hamilton. Now he’ll get a chance to coach his son at LaSalle. I’m not saying one job is better than the other, but I’m sure his family situation was the major factor.Interesting that folks on here seem to indicate LaSalle is not a good job and Hamilton is a good job.
Yet the Hamilton Coach jumps from a D1 GMC job to a DIII or DIV GCL job? Thoughts on why?
