Heading into the 2nd year in Conference history, what are everyone's thoughts for the upcoming season? I will attach final standings from last year below. I think the conference could shape up similarly with Tri Village and Preble Shawnee being the 2 favorites going into the season. Arcanum returns offensive player of the year in Schondelmyer, so they could be in the mix as well. It'll be interesting to see if if any of the middle of the pack teams can make a jump...

love the Knights and Grey Ghosts!
Prenle Shawnee, Arcanum, and Tri Village are the top tier. everyone else is after that. one of those 3 will win the league and each one has the potential to make a playoff run.

I would agree PS, TV, and maybe even Arcanum are in the top tier of the league. Arcanum has to gain on them both to make that a more of a conversation of 3 vs. just the 2. What are the numbers looking like in the bottom half of the league? It seemed like there were many teams with numbers barely in the 20's, or even in the teens in 2021. Will there be growth in numbers for Bradford, MV, TCN, TVS, Dixie, National Trail, etc.?

I agree with the above. I also think that after this year, those three will drop off due to graduation of top players and the league will be more level. I think this is a great league for these schools. The vast majority have a chance to make a run at a league title every year.

I'm not sure about overall numbers... I feel like MV and Bradford have had better numbers the past few years then they did 5-6 years ago. Many years at that time we were unsure if they would even field a team. As for the other mentioned schools, I expect their numbers to be similar to what it's been in recent years. TVS/Dixie/Trail are typically teams that field a JV team. TCN would be as well, but their numbers were low last season, but I think they were very young, and maybe they could build back up.

In that same group of schools, how many of them are able to field pee wee programs or even middle school programs? I know that's a key to numbers as well.

Good point. I don't think MV even has pee wee, and it's been a few years sine Bradford has had one (it's sporadic for that as well as JH). I believe it was TCN who only had 11 kids on their pee wee team a year or 2 ago.

Seems like NT/South usually have pretty good numbers from pee wee on up.

I believe that TV and Shawnee will be at the top of the league this year. TV loses one of their WR but still return Finkbine and Wher. I also assume their qb will be a little bit more prepared for this season. With PS rb leaving, I don't see their qb being able to carry the team to the level they were last year.

I agree with TV and PS being the top 2 and Arcanum maybe. Arcanum and TV have the O and D POYs coming back. PS losing there rb, which will make them easier to guard, last year no one could just concentrate on him because the qb could pull it and make people miss but now they will be a little more one dimensional. TV and Arcanum lose their top receivers.

From what I’ve heard he’s stepping down to be with his family. Doesn’t have another coaching position anywhere. If The AD is smart he would hire from within and hire the MVFCA assistant coach of the year Brett Slone. He’s done great as an asst coach for the past 5 years. He’s a players coach they all love him and would run through a brick wall for him. He can keep the system and culture Burk has built.

I’ll guess Keating gets a look

Weird that he applied for Franklin job then....
CJ is looking, are we sure he's not going there?
Yeah he's definitely not gonna be head coach anywhere, a part time assistant maybe. He built a great program there though, a two year program when he got there and then undefeated conference champs and a 9-1 record and they will be just as good next year.

The upsets he pulled over Ft Loramie and New Bremen were crazy

If he did good for him he’s earned it he’s a great coach. Any school would be lucky to have him.
Fantastic Coach , great human. Built the program from the ground up starting year 2 . I hear he wants to be farther South closer to home . He’s had a pretty long haul to school and practice during his tenure at TV , I think he lives around Hamilton . He’ll be coaching next year and did apply for a couple HC jobs closer to his area from what I’ve heard but it didn’t work out . I’m sure he’ll latch on as an assistant where he deems a good fit if he can’t land a HC spot . TV has a ton of talent coming up the pipeline for such a small community and they’ll be just fine thanks to a culture Burk built . I hear Great things about Brett Slone the D coordinator. If they stay in house with him they’re in good hands . I think Andy Keating teaches in Oakwood which is also pretty far but he’d be phenomenal as well . Kudos to Coach Robert Burk his staff and players for what they were able to do in such a short timeline .

I wonder if they hire a coach from outside the program. With their previous success and future talent, I could see a lot of good coaches interested in it.
