TC will need to slow the game way down. MU depth just takes over and overall talent. Could be a running clock.

Your always worried about a solid Covington playing well. I think there still a few years away.
Seems that way. Covington suffers what most small schools like MU, ME, and others do where talent is concerned. I think Milton will be a balanced offense this year with Brumbaugh getting much of the attention. There are many other weapons to use. Elam is going to be a very good back. He's quick and has size.
TC will always be competitive.
Really, making any prediction as to how the league finishes is just for fun. No one should take this serious on Yappi.

Covington crashed overnight. The one big change? they hired a very young, untested, first time head coach.

That is the "dumb" reason many are picking TC toward the bottom of the league this year. Hopefully coach Hayden is amazing. I really do hope TC shows no decline this year. But a new coaching staff with very little experience plus a team with very little experience is not the usual formula for success.
Very fair, your always fair. Hoping with you.

I was looking at the schedules posted earlier. Covington has a tough out of league schedule in their 1st 3 games. Seems like they could start the season 0-3 and no momentum going into league play. Are they going to be improved enough from last season to get at least 1 out of 3 of those games?

Looking at that schedule, I think it will motivate the younger players to improve. The first 3 are in a different class than the next couple. They will get beat by MU, Riverside, and TC (maybe) in league play. 0-4 could easily be a decent improvement over 2021. Looking at their schedule, they need to have a good out against Northridge, Lehman, East and TC. 4-6 is a bit better than 1-9.
My earlier post about them shocking the world is more wishful thinking for the league as a whole. Northridge, TC, Riverside will all be in tier 2. I believe everyone chases MU. Tier 4 would be East, Covington and Lehman.

The TRC is, right now, a weaker conference outside of MU and Riverside. The Pirates made a great showing in D7 last year. Marion Local would whip most teams in D4-7.

I was speaking with an old coach in the Cbus area over the 4th holiday, and he said that if Milton doesn't make the State final this year they may never. He was so impressed with them that he has been following them since Brumbaugh was a frosh. I would love to see MU in the state semi or final once in my lifetime.
There is a such a great tradition here over many. many years that it's a shame they have never gotten that far. I think if anyone can lead them there it's Pearce. This team is as loaded as the '06 team was with Mitch Evans.
Standing in the way is Valley View, Shawnee, Coldwater, Ursuline, etc.
In looking at some 2021 results, Carlisle seems to have finished really strong. That team could make waves in '22 in region 20. Valley View and MU are my two favorites due to returning talent, coaching and schedule. Brookville, Carlisle, Shawnee, Greeneview should be in the top 10.
This is going to be an exciting year.

7v7
7/15 5pm @ Versailles
7/21 10am Home vs Greenville
scrimmages
8/6 10am Home vs NW
8/12 7pm @ Brookville
this is a scrimmage schedule that would prepare you for a tough season. Book end Versailles and Brookville should tell much. 7-on-7 is what it is. Scrimmaging the reigning State Champs is a great way to start.

If I had to take a crack at it, I'd say
1. MU
2. Miami East
3. Riverside
4. TC
5. Northridge
6. Covington
7. Bethel
8. Lehman
MU runs away with it. Competition for 2nd place is going to be high though. East is bringing back so much and are going to be more experienced and physical on both sides of the ball. One thing I'm fairly confident on though is I see Covington, Bethel, and Lehman struggling mightily again.

Good one Bucky, Kind of where I am. 2 through 5 any order would not suprise me.

Curious as to who the "so much" are? From the TRC website, East loses Francis, Rose, Wittenmeyer, Young, Shields and rumor mill says Roethe. That means Hohenstein and Williams are the only 2 returners that got all-league at any level (both hon mention)

Ritchea returns. Who else?

I know this sounds like I'm saying you are wrong, not the case at all. My info often comes from the TRC site, and it is woefully incomplete. Who does East return?

I was also curious as to the East comment. Only thing that could validate that statement is if the Enis kid decided to play this year. I would love to see that...

He would be a game changer, no doubt. But, football is so much more than one guy. I think Riverside is firmly at#2. 3-8 could be anyone. East does have good coaching, but, they will struggle vs Riverside and MU. I believe with the level of competition in this league, anything is possible. Bethel might jump out of nowhere and shock the world. Covington could. TC will always be tough. Lehman seems confident this year.
So it's really anyone from 3-8.
I don't see anyone beating Riverside, but MU, if they are healthy.

Here's a new one.
What is the biggest HURDLE each team must clear to be successful this year?

Health and conditioning. If TC can kepp its core healthy and they can survive playing both ways they can be competitive. That is hard.

Agreed. Their schedule looks like it was made when the Buccs were the class of the CCC and looking to beef up their OOC schedule.

I agree with these rankings. MU is at the top, and maybe at the top by a decent margin. I think that next tier of teams 2-5 could finish in any order. Then you'll have Covington, Bethel, and LC bringing up that bottom tier. The league has a feel to it like the WOAC. Where the top is fairly established but the middle group looks interesting.

good answers,
I was thinking more along the lines of:
Riverside needs to replace departing linemen.
East needs someone to replace Francis.
more like: _______(school)_____ will finish near the top of the league if they __________________.

MU will finish with another league title if they approach every game with mental toughness, CONFIDENCE, and a healthy team. I don't think coaching is a weakness at all, but the kids mental state, outside of what the coaches do, can be up and down. They are teenagers, I get it.
No more Oakwood losses, Dixie losses, Brookville losses. Those were mental breakdowns and overconfidence, in my opinion. Being consistent and improving every down, every week, is essential to building depth and achieving their potential. Coaches can't play the game, only the kids can.
I think the difference in a team like Clinton Massie, Coldwater, Marion Local and MU is mental toughness and focus (the little things matter). They seem to take It to another level that MU hasn't been able to reach. CONFIDENCE but not cockiness.
This coaching staff and this bunch of kids are the best I've seen at MU in 10-15 years. Coach Pearce has done more at MU than Any coach in it's history. If I'm the coach, I'm pushing them beyond where they "think" they can go. Welcome the challenges and INVITE THE FIGHT!

Milton's Wes Martin, guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars, had his camp today in West Milton. What a great man to give back like that. Go Jags and Go Dogs!

I think that Riverside’s o-line will be better this year than last.
