2022 Open/Unknown Weeks

Quite a few updates on the first post.
Did you get official word from Rhodes? I talked to an assistant AD for Canfield a few weeks ago and last I heard is Rhodes wanted more guaranteed money or a bigger share of the gate from Canfield.

Week 7:
Ashtabula St. John
Canfield - (H) Cleveland Rhodes
Cleveland Rhodes - (A) Canfield
Chardon
East Clinton - (A) Mississinawa Valley
Millersport - (H) Trinity Christian (WV) -- Yes, playing twice
Mississinawa Valley - (H) East Clinton
Ottawa Hills - Cardinal Stritch season cancelled
I noticed Joe Eitel removed the Canfield-Rhodes game, has this game been cancelled?

Updated above for a few games in weeks 9 and 10. Still confused on the Canfield-Rhodes thing. I;ve heard both playing and not playing from both coaches and AD's as recently as last week.

Ottawa Hills is still actively looking for a week 7 game. Would play Ohio, Michigan or Indiana teams.
Tell them to keep an eye on Milton-Union. MU plays Covington. Covington has a very small team and many injuries. If anyone else goes out for Covington in week 6, MU could possibly find themselves with no week 7 game.

Wapak is away. Rent their stadium and play halfway between the 2.

If you aren't opposed to a 3 hour drive across I-80, Rhodes may back out of playing Canfield. Canfield also does not run up the score and plays clean.
The only other options are Ashtabula St. John who is further and doesn't have many boys or defending D-III state champions Chardon, who probably would beat Canfield by at least 3 or 4 TDs.

Canfield would be a great match for Milton.
The only problem with that is that it is a 5 hour drive to Canfield. Options are:
70 E to 71 N to 76 E to 80 E to 11 S To 224 W
or
75 N to 224 E to 76 E to 224 E

Canfield already has 5 away games and would not be willing to play at a neutral site or away.

If Canfield's opponent flakes, wouldn't it make sense for Chardon at Canfield? Maybe a little over an hour drive.
With expanded playoffs it wouldn't matter and think of what a great game and crowd. Standing room only.

No because Canfield doesn't want to risk an injury to their QB and tip their hand too much, Canfield does not have the supporting cast this year and will need to outcoach and strategize Chardon to beat them and the more they put on film or Chardon sees first hand the worse it will be when it counts in the playoffs.
Canfield was roughly even with Chardon last year despite what other posters on here will say, this year both teams are worse but Canfield lost more and doesn't have the personnel to fill in the gaps.

Also Chardon also only had 4 home games and would want Canfield to play at Chardon, but Canfield isn't interested in playing another away game that far away. Maybe if it was an area team that would get a really big gate and was only 30 minutes away or less.

Canfield's freshmen would beat Ottawa Hills by 3 TDs.

Ottawa Hills/Ashtabula St. John might be a decent game.

A lot of what you say makes sense, but plenty of teams only have 4 home games.
Another thought is: this isn't the Chardon of the past 2 years. Not by a country mile. I believe it would be an excellent game.
Didn't Canfield travel across the state for a game already? One hour is pretty much the norm in many places in Ohio.

Yeah but that is an additional hour away.

This reminds me when I was in high school and played tennis for Canfield and we were playing weaker opponents, the coach always told us to keep it friendly and would not tolerate any poor sportsmanship. He would tell me to let my opponent win a few games each set even though I could have won the match without losing a single point.
Generally Canfield has pretty good sportsmanship and doesn't run up scores in any sports that I am aware.

Yes but that was a game they had a better chance of winning that would give them a lot of L2 points and they offered to pay for Canfield's travel expenses I think.
It is more about the other stuff I mentioned than the number of home games. Remember what happened to Canfield in the early 2000s when the easily handled Howland in the regular season but lost to them in the playoffs because Howland's coaches exploited all of Canfield's weaknesses and did a really good job making adjustments.
