2020 La Salle Lancers

Man, I'd love to see that game. But is it wise to replace a Canadian cupcake with the defending DI champs when you have the GCL, Winton Woods and Trotwood on the schedule? PC would probably be asking a similar question.
Pick Central’s first 3 games look tough assuming La Salle is added WK3. After that, their schedule looks tough on paper. However, Pick North has 4-5 really good players and not much else but they will play their hearts out versus Pick Central. Hilliard Bradley can only beat bad teams. Not sure about Groveport. They were very good last year but not sure what they have coming back. Lancaster gives Central problems every few years.
Pick Central is loaded this year and could be better than last year. Hopefully this matchup works out. I think it would be fun to watch.

Pickerington Central has said they can host or travel in week three. They are open because Naperville, IL cancelled on them. La Salle is oepn because they were scheduled to play Riverview Academy which has suspended their season. Here is why this game should be at La Salle. Pickerington Central Tiger stadium has a seating capacity of 3,662 while La Salle Lancer stadium shows 8,000. Interest in this game would be high simply because it would be the defending DI state champion against the defending DII state champion which is why Tiger stadium would be inadequate to host this game.

Here is Pickerington Central's week three open listing on the OHSAA web site. "Pickerington Central HS is looking for a Week 3 Varsity opponent due to a recent cancellation from the covid-19 pandemic. We can host or travel".

I don’t care where they play. I don’t think the seating capacity is accurate though. When Pick Central plays Pick North, the attendance is significantly greater than 4,000 people. The PC field has been resurfaced and is in great shape right now but that can change real quick. One concern might be the cost of traveling and also losing out on a home game. If the week 1 Massillon rumors are true, that would be back to back away games and two lost home games.

If your basing it on seating well 4000, seats be reserved for the away team then

Just imagine a schedule of

@ Lakota West
@ Winton Woods
H Pickerington Central
@ Dunbar
@ Hoban
H Moeller
H Covington Catholic
H St. X
H Trotwood Madison
@ Elder

That'd be a top 5 hardest schedule in the country :oops:

This got me thinking back to St. X schedule from 2016. Finished # 15 in the country and had 5 losses. Absolutely insane the onslaught of a schedule they had.

The year St. X had five losses, they still made the playoffs and won state. Could La Salle make the playoffs with up to five losses and win state also.
Wouldn’t that St X team have missed playoffs if they competed in Region 8 last year? Isn’t last year’s Winston Woods a cautionary tale on having too loaded of a schedule?

Fellas, I don't think seating capacities are going to matter this year. If fans are allowed in at all, there won't be anything close to full houses.

Just got confirmation that the St. Joes team from buffalo has canceled the game against LaSalle. Was told that it was because of Corona but we all know it is because they didn’t want to get the kicked out of them again this year. It’s pathetic a team just cancels because of that, now LS has to find another team to play in a short amount of time.

What are the rumors for the 2 fill in teams? Anything to the Pickerington rumor?

Hoban and Indy Cathedral is open for week 5

With Lakota West getting a high 4 star DB and going into year 2 with Bolden, they could prove to be very formidable by the end of the year. Noone talks about them as being one of the harder games but they very well could be.

laSalle and Colerain (a team LW plays) have the championship mentality it takes to win all season long. LW, not so much.

Pretty much the whole schedule will be a challenge since the two tomato cans on the schedule had to cancel, with the exception of Dunbar. I think everyone knows Lakota West will be no pushover, especially in Year 2 of Bolden at the helm. If you all recall, a good portion of the Yapsters had LW as a favorite to beat La Salle Week 1 last year.

That said, on paper, La Salle should be the favorite in every game going in. But high-school kids especially do not always live up to the paper prognostication.

A good HC will get you through that and we got a good one in McLaughlin. I do remember that last year but tbf the outlook on LS was polar opposites at the beginning of the year compared to now. Having a QB that can actually throw the ball made a world of difference in this offense.

It's amazing how they have better athletes than most division 1 programs. How do they do that?
Start a winning program and it attracts other kids because they want to be a part of a winning tradition. If they have the opportunity to attend a great school where they will succeed and get to chance to compete for a state championship, who wouldn’t take that opportunity if they had the chance.

They won state titles three years in a row from 2014-2016 while sending a number of great players to great college football programs, firmly establishing a rep as a great high-school program. The following fall in 2016, perhaps the most talented single class in school history showed up and after a while, the fourth state title in six years.

Seems pretty logical that the program would attract some pretty solid student-athletes, huh?

They've always been in a talent rich area. They had the best team in Ohio in 2014 while not even making the playoffs the previous year and only having one notable backup RB transfer in. They go on to win state the next 2 years and is now a destination spot for grade schoolers like D1 powerhouses Colerain, St. X, and Elder have been for years. All these schools have had top tier Ohio talent for 20 years and are all within 8 miles of LaSalle. Now you got kids actually wanting to play football at LaSalle over these other schools rather than them settling playing football for LaSalle.

On top of that LaSalle has developed pipelines to Ohio State and UC better than any school in the area by far.

Would the school be able to publicly show how all those athletes that they have attracted been able to afford the tuition?

Hmm, are you saying good football players' families cannot afford tuition? Why would you think that? Is it all the good football players or just some of them?

Also, how families pay tuition is none of anybody's business but theirs and the school's.
