Geez look at Texas Southern's first 13 games...

@ #18 Gonzaga - L 97-69
@ Wash State - L 86-84
@ Ohio State
@ Syracuse
@ #4 Kansas
@ Clemson
@ Oakland
@ Toledo
@ Oregon
@ #24 Baylor
@ Wyoming
@ TCU
@ BYU

That's a long road trip. They only have 9 home games to 22 on the road. Is this common for smaller schools?

I think every team should make an effort to schedule at least a few OOC games at home (for the players and fans sake), but from a financial standpoint it makes a lot of sense to schedule as many "pay games" as possible as a smaller program.

Yes.

Mississippi Valley State also parlays a pretty nice home arena out of it as well. Pretty amazing for a school with only 2,000 students.

Well we get to see them tonight on BTN,lets hope for the best...BAM!
I can't imagine this year will go amazingly better than last year. I would hope for some marginal improvement in terms of wins and losses, but hopefully, we are no longer have any more conversations about lack of effort. I can tolerate losses if the horses aren't there to compete, but I cannot tolerate laziness.

Well one thing is for sure, Holtmann isn't putting up with any BS from players. Kaleb Wesson suspended for tonight's game for 'failure to meet team expectations'.

Seems like a tardiness issue to meetings or practice to me.

TXSO rally from 18 down to cut it to 2 but the Buckeyes respond and close out the game strong in the final 6 minutes. Host Northeastern at 2 PM on Sunday.

Keeping my expectations low as this team is not ultra talented and they will struggle to score at times. BUT....it was much better watching them compete last night than at any time the past two years!! They play much harder and with much more enthusiasm. Tempo is faster and defense is much better. Team looks to be in better shape and Holtmann is playing 9 or 10 guys. I like the fact he sat freshman big man last night due to "teams rules violation". It was one game suspension due to time management issues. Translation...kid was late to team function or missed a class. Not a huge deal but instill some discipline on the young man as he could be really good. Jallow is a 17 year old freshman and he looks ready to compete. KBD is healthy and good. Potter looks in much better shape and stronger. Hope we see some player development under this regime too and then we will have something.

Buckeyes move to 4-0. Face first real test Thanksgiving night as they face #17 Gonzaga in Portland as part of the PK80 invitational tournament. Late night for the east coast with a 11:59 PM tip.

I like what Holtmann is doing with this team, so far. They seem more focused than the last few years, seem to be in better shape and there seems to be a more positive vibe. The real tests begin now, and this team will take some losses, but Holtmann at least has brought some fire and focus back to the program that it was missing during the last few years of Thad's slow fade-out.

Don't think I've ever seen a game tip off at 12:35am before. Yikes

Aside from the 24 hour opening marathon of course

Buckeyes trail by 13 to the Zags at halftime.

11-0 run to end the half. Turnovers are a problem but Gonzaga is hitting ridiculously deep 3's. Not much they can do defensively.

Gonzaga 86
Ohio State 59

Pretty much a dismantling. KBD was nowhere to be found. Buckeyes face Stanford tonight at 9 PM in the losers bracket. Stanford (3-3) lost to #7 Florida 108-87.

Along the lines of what I expected. Outside of KBD and Tate, IMO OSU is going to struggle a lot against better competition this year, especially away from Columbus. Simply too much youth/inexperience and a lack of seasoned talent.

Definitely short on talent to compete with the likes of Gonzaga for 40 minutes. The zags have some serious guard play; they can fill it up.

Early 2nd half.

A win here and we get an interesting match-up against Holtmann's old Butler squad on Sunday.

Well, at least the Buckeyes got a decent win over Stanford. However, it's not a good sign when you have Dakich playing that many minutes over all of the other guards on the bench. Is he really the best PG they have?

It looks like neither Potter nor Kam Williams were developed at all in the off-season. What gives?

At least they shoot free throws well, and I actually saw some guys diving for loose balls, which is an improvement over last year.

Jackson is the best guard they have and he's been spotty thus far. Nice game tonight but he has a lot of turnovers through 6 games. They desperately need guards in the next couple recruiting classes.
