Paul Simon - Graceland (1986)

My Ratings: 71.619
Rank: 1336 (out of 1863)

Best Song: You Can Call Me Al [82.0]

Worldbeat Pop Rock

As a fan of Simon & Garfunkle this was my first attempt at listening to a solo Paul Simon album. There was a couple of great tracks but there was a wide range of music on this one with some tracks I flat out just did not like.....

Skeleton - Skeleton (2020)

My Ratings: 74.260
Rank: 878 (out of 1864)

Best Song: Taste of Blood [77.0]

Black Metal

"Though some might be prone to lazily apply simplistic genre tags to Skeleton’s style, the reality is far more sweeping as the debut LP immediately reveals an excessively sharp metallic-charged juggernaut of severe force and high plains mayhem. War-like hymns for the soldiers of a scorched apocalypse to come, from which a bleak alternate future will emerge. " ... Bandcamp

Debut album ... I'll be lazy.... this is old school Black Metal sounding.... Pretty decent debut and will be looking forward to other releases..... Oh, there are several bands with this name these are the guys from Austin Texas.

Moonspell - Irreligious (1996)

My Ratings: 74.300
Rank: 865 (out of 1865)

Best Song: Awake! [81.0]

Gothic Metal

This is the 5th album of 12 I have heard from them and this is my favorite so far and Awake! is the 2nd best song I have heard from this group. Really got the Goth going here with some great atmosphere.....

Static X - Project: Regeneration Vol1 (2020)

My Ratings: 78.019
Rank: 344 (out of 1866)

Best Song: Worth Dyin for [86.0]

Industrial Metal

OK, this is strange.... Wayne Static died in 2014. Many demo's and voice samplings were recently discovered so the original band members came together and made an album programming in Static's vocals. Also, an unknown vocal lead known as Xer0 adds in additional vocals. This is one of two albums planned. This album sounded like early Static X..... Can't wait for more.....

214

Insomnium - Above the Weeping World (2006)

My Ratings: 68.001
Rank: 1674 (out of 1867)

Best Song: Drawn to Black [73.0]

Melodic Death Metal

This was the first Insomnium album I did not like..... maybe I just was not in the mood for it but just could not get into it.....

215

Hail Spirit Noir - Mayhem in Blue (2016)

My Ratings: 75.760
Rank: 599 (out of 1868)

Another solid album by this band......

Saints of Death - Ascend to the Throne (2020)

My Ratings: 76.793
Rank: 452 (out of 1869)

Best Song: Ascend to the Throne [79.6]

Groove Metal

This one definitely surprised me..... and this was their debut album....

217

The Yardbirds - Roger The Engineer (UK version 1966)

My Ratings: 75.837
Rank: 589 (out of 1870)

Best Song: Over, Under, Sideways, Down [82.0]

Psychedelic Blues Rock

I guess even at my age you can learn something new..... I had always thought that "Over, Under, Sideways, Down" was by the Doors..... huh, oh well..... This is my 3rd Yardbirds album and though it is pretty good it is weaker than the two 1965 albums.....

Tung - Bleak (2020)

My Ratings: 69.680
Rank: 1553 (out of 1871)

Best Song: Succession Hand [74.6]

Sludge Doom Metal

Only liked 2 of the 8 songs but I did not hate the 6 as they were close to being likeable it was just the vocals were a bit too "sludgy" for my liking.....

219

Kansas - Leftoverture (1976)

My Ratings: 77.355
Rank: 392 (out of 1872)

Best Song: Carry on Wayward Son [90.0]

Progressive Rock

This has to be the best Kansas Album..... liked all the tracks on it....

220

Agalloch - Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor (EP-2001)

My Ratings: 76.930
Rank: 437 (out of 1873)

Best Song: Haunting Birds [83.6]

Folk Metal

Technically an EP but since it is longer and has more tracks (that do not appear on a full length album) than a typical EP I will count it as a factory album for my ratings..... With the exception of the last track I really dug this one and will be looking for more EP's and Demo's from this band since I have already completed their full length discography......

221

The Box Tops - The Letter/Neon Rainbow (1967)

My Ratings: 73.087
Rank: 1089 (out of 1874)

Best Song: A Whiter Shade of Pale [85.0]

Rhythm and Blues Rock

Side 1 of this album was really jamming.... now I have never heard any band doing a cover of a song that just came out so that was a bit odd but they did a great job on it..... the problem with this album was side 2 was not good at all..... First time listening to this band might check out a few more from them.....

222

Below the Sun - Alien World (2017)

My Ratings: 71.500
Rank: 1362 (out of 1878)

Best Song: Kentucky Fried Blues [74.0]

Hard Rock

Nothing great on this one... a couple of tunes I liked....

226

Arcturus - La Masquerade Infernale (1997)

My Ratings: 69.813
Rank: 1535 (out of 1879)

Best Song: Ad Astra [75.0]

Progressive Advant-garde Metal

You really don't know what your going to get with this band.... This album sounded circussy (yes, I made that word up) which actually sounded quite good but the vocals were just utterly not to my liking minus a couple of tracks. Not the worse album I have heard by them but close.

227

Agent Steel - Omega Conspiracy (1999)

My Ratings: 70.480
Rank: 1487 (out of 1880)

After a 12 year hiatus Agent Steel is back but with a new singer..... ugghhhh.... did not care for him.... music sounded good though.

My Ratings: 72.735

Some good tracks, most were just OK but this album was better than their debut album.

229

Wine From Tears - Through The Eyes Of A Mad (2009)

My Ratings: 76.146
Rank: 542 (out of 1882)

Best Song: The Secret of the Woods [79.0]

Melodic Death Doom Metal

They have been around for almost 20 years but yet only 2 albums to show. I like both about the same..... We need another one from this band out of Russia.

230

Motörhead - Bomber (1979)

My Ratings: 76.080

My Ratings: 78.206
Rank: 328 (out of 1884)

Best Song: Rocket Reducer #62 [86.6]

Proto-Punk/Garage Rock

Technically a Live Album but the tracks are all unique so I am counting it as a Studio album as well. First time listening to these guys and I want more.....

My Ratings: 75.330
Rank: 681 (out of 1885)

233

Rolling Stones - Aftermath (UK-version 1966)

My Ratings: 75.483
Rank: 654 (out of 1887)

Best Song: Mother's Little Helper [91.6]

Hard Rock

Rolling Stones - Aftermath (US-version 1966)

My Ratings: 76.765
Rank: 459 (out of 1887)

Best Song: Paint It, Black [93.0]

Hard Rock

The UK version has 14 tracks, 5 of those do not appear on the US version while the US version has 11 Tracks and only 1 track does not appear on the UK one. Both albums have heavy radio tracks on them but the UK has more of the oh hum tracks that drive the ratings down. I was actually surprised I had not listened to this one yet...... the US version ranks 3rd in my Rolling Stones Discography.

234

Genesis - A Trick of the Tail (1976)

My Ratings: 72.430
Rank: 1219 (out of 1888)

Best Song: Squonk [81.0]

Liked half the tracks on this one and overall it wasn't that bad of an album. I still need to check out some Genesis with Peter Gabriel on vocals...

Great Stones album that high lights the initial contributions of Brian Jones. The dominate force behind the album was the muse Anita Pallenberg and the Triad relationship among her, Brian Jones, and Keith Richards. While it gave us this great album it lead to the demise of the Rolling Stones 1.0.

234

Genesis - A Trick of the Tail (1976)

My Ratings: 72.430
Rank: 1219 (out of 1888)

Best Song: Squonk [81.0]

Progressive Rock

Liked half the tracks on this one and overall it wasn't that bad of an album. I still need to check out some Genesis with Peter Gabriel on vocals...

Trick is a solid album and a big part of my middle school years, also lead to a great tour with guitarist Steven Hacket providing some of the most moody sounds ever from a guitar.

If looking to check out Gabriel era Genesis start with Selling England by the Pound. It's probably the most accessible Gabriel Genesis album with a couple great songs that give you a feel for their sound during the mid '70s. Next up I would recommend a prog masterpiece, Foxtrot including their magnum opus Suppers Ready. There is a great youtube video of a concert from the Selling England by the Pound tour that shows how "artsy" their shows were during this time, you cannot get any more progressive rock than this.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I get back to Genesis.

Slayer - Undisputed Attitude (1996)

My Ratings: 72.369
Rank: 1228 (out of 1890)

Best Song: I Hate You [81.0]

Hardcore Punk/Crossover Thrash

I've been avoiding this album but today was the day to finally listen to it. Just about all the tracks are covers from hardcore punk bands like Minor Threat, DRI, Verbal Abuse, and I wasn't quite sure how it would sound. Well, it was all over the place......
