Jamming to Pink Floyd Animals right now.... this one does not count for what I am doing on here but just had to crack out the LP and put it on the turn table and it sounds freakin awesome!!!!! I think I am going to have to brush off the cobwebs of my other Floyd albums and give them a spin as well.... sometimes vinyl sounds better than CD's.....

...A couple of my favorites from the 70's that I can listen to from start to finish are;
Look at Yourself-- Uriah Heep
Benefit-- Jethro Tull
REO II- REO Speedwagon (this is when they rocked/probably Gary Richrath's influence RIP Gary)

I liked "Look at Yourself" ... but liked "Benefit" better... have not listened to any REO yet.... I need to get them on my list...

Black Sabbath - The Eternal Idol (1987)

My Rating: 69.56
rank: 655 (out of 790)

Heavy Metal

No Ozzy, No Geezer Butler, No Ward, not even Dio or Gillen.... This is basically Iomi's solo career and though he wanted to call the band at this time "Iomi" the record company would not let him.... There are only a couple good songs on this album...

Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk (1997)

My Rating: 68.55
rank: 686 (out of 791)

Black Metal

The biggest problem I had with this album is that the vocals are buried and hard to here. The opening track "The Oath" was my favorite but it deteriorated from there....

...One of my favorites from many years ago that I just listened to again is the Yes album. They need to be put into the R & R Hall of Fame....Way over due!

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1977)

My rating: 85.10
rank: 70 (out of 792)

Rock

This album is full of great songs!!!

You have to love a group that goes 3 deep on singers/songwriters and has a crack rhythm section to hold down the bottom. The stories behind the songs and sessions are legendary.

Radiohead - OK Computer (1997)

My Rating: 74.70
rank: 395 (out of 794)

Alternative

Favorite song from album... "Climbing Up the Walls". Alternative is not one of my favorite genres and I did not listen to Radiohead back in the 90's so I am basically hearing these songs for the first time. This album would likely grow on me but as of right now I did not like it better than "The Bends" ... those are the only 2 albums I've listened too by them.

Many "critics" consider it the best album of the '90s.

It was #1 in the list I saw from 97. I never really listened to Radiohead or Alternative Music that much other than Grunge. This album is definitely one that could grow on me with multiple listens.

Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love (1987)

My Rating: 68.86
rank: 678 (out of 796)

Pop Rock

I can take Bruce in short doses but it is a challenge to listen to a whole album and this one was nothing but sappy love songs.

Empyrium - Songs of Moors and Misty Fields (1997)

My Rating: 70.600
rank: 623 (out of 797)

Doom Metal

Not sure if I would call it doom metal but that is what it is under. Definitely an Earth type band.... sort of folk and symphonic. Did not really care for the singers voice.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivors (1977)

My Rating: 79.30
rank: 198 (out of 798)

Southern Rock

Last studio album that was released 3 days prior to the plane crash.... not as good as their first 2 albums but still decent. Side 1 much better than side 2...

Judas Priest - Jugulator (1997)

My Rating: 81.00
rank: 162 (out of 804)

Heavy Metal

Exit Rob Halford, enter Tim Ripper Owens. I stopped listening to Priest when Halford left but about 20 years later I gave it a shot and it was not that bad. Jugulator was heavy, very heavy ... overall not as good as the one before (Painkiller) but good enough for me... favorite track: Blood Stained.

Steely Dan - Aja (1977)

My Rating: 71.84
rank: 575 (out of 805)

Jazz Rock

"Josie" is the best song on Aja in my opinion.... Jazz Rock is not really my thing though but Steely Dan is a very talented group that strives for perfection... I personally like Neil Young's view on music... keep it raw and the feeling alive.
