Checked out two new releases this morning. The two bands were very similar and the albums were both pretty short.

Hirax - Faster Than Death (2025) ... 74.379
-Thrash Metal. This was very close to crossover. 9 tracks at just 21 minutes long they got right to the point with each track. Unfortunately, there were internal issues and all but one member quit the band.

Spoiled - Collapse (2025) ... 73.654
-Crossover. 15 tracks at just over 26 minutes this was another one that got straight to the point. The opening track made my playlist and the 2nd half of the title track was great but did not care for the first minute of it. This album featured a pic of a zombie wearing a D.R.I. shirt! Anyhow, this band is fast, very fast for a crossover band.

-Melodic Black Metal. Not really sure why I listened to this one. Don't care too much for Black metal nor do I care for Melodic.... oh well, I have heard a few albums from them and I did like it but those were older ones so I guess I was curious what the newer albums would sound like. Well, I did like the slow parts in each track but did not care for the fast beats that kick in......

Blackened Heavy: Never heard this genre before though it is similar to Black-n-Roll. Front half of this album was the better with the 3rd track being great and making my playlist. So, this was basically Heavy Metal with a Black Metal vocal style.

-Sludge Metal: Never heard of this band but I am willing to take a chance on any band that has "Mammoth" in their name. Tune down and sludgy Doom action that was raw and simple. I could probably learn the riffs in a few minutes but I liked that about this one. This one was pretty solid and I am curious if they have any other albums....

-Crossover: My buddy was really into DRI. This year he actually convinced one of his friends that owns a record store to hire DRI to play there on his birthday. LOL, they actually did it.... Anyhow this was an album that I have heard plenty of times during the day. I was surprised I had never rated it before.

-Thrash Metal: By request.... this was old school thrash that sounded like late 80's early 90's with a cross between Dave Mustain and Chuck Billy vocals. Some tracks I liked, others I did not. For the most part it was missing the vocal hook on chorus and really no riffing that stuck out.
