I think Todd Schulte was 24 years old, and in his first year as HC at DSJ, when he won his first state championship in 1999. I'm not sure if he was the youngest ever but he has to be among them.

Helps to step in and take over one the most loaded small school teams ever. They were an absolute monster.

True. They were a 2-time defending champion when he took over and on a 29-game winning streak I think it was. His teams ran that streak to 57 in a row before they lost.

The winning streak was broken in Schulte’s second season in the 2000 state semifinals by another young, second year head coach named Tim Goodwin. Crazy now to think about 2 coaches that young making it to that level and then obviously the mountain of success they’ve has since then

Yes sir. I believe the next week was the 1st time I ever saw MSML play in person. They destroyed Mogadore in the D6 championship game, 54-0.
Having said that reminds me that I actually saw coach Schulte's 1st game as HC at DSJ. They played Warren JFK at Mollenkopf Stadium in Warren to open the 99 season. It was a Saturday afternoon game and DSJ won 41-0 in a game that wasn't even that close. The Blue Jays pretty much steamrolled everybody that year on the way to their 3rd straight D6 title.
