One of my favorites Willie Mays passed away at 93. Seems a lot of the legions in professional sports have died in the first half of 2024.
Willie Mays was well before my time, but I do recall a little of the end of his career. Like Jim Brown, he was one of the legends I was just a little too young to have seen and appreciated and I'm sad I missed the best part of his career. Rest In Peace.
I saw Mays at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh when I was very young.Same here, I pretty much remember him on the Mets.

I'd vote for Bench.Greatest living player, after Willie Mays' passing ?

Say Hey, Who Is Baseball's Greatest Living Player? Sandy Koufax, Yaz, Bench, Bonds?
Sandy Koufax, Barry Bonds, Carl Yastrzemski - Who Is Baseball's Greatest Living Player Now With Willie Mays Gone?www.outkick.com
Hell no for cheater Barry Bonds. Maybe Junior.
Bench better than K G Jr? Bench was arguably the greatest catcher of all time, but there are a host of field position players and pitchers that I would have to list far above any catcher who ever played. St Louis also had a great talent in Albert P recently. Hard to pick one in baseball IMO. Basketball is a no brainer.I'd vote for Bench.
How about Sidd Finch, Joe Shlabotnik, Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn or Steve Dalkowski?Greatest living player, after Willie Mays' passing ?

I attended a wedding Saturday at the Soldiers & Sailors Museum in Pittsburgh and didn't realize until after I got there that it was only a few blocks away from the site of the former Forbes Field.
