Willie Mays passes

Willie Mays was well before my time, but I do recall a little of the end of his career. Like Jim Brown, he was one of the legends I was just a little too young to have seen and appreciated and I'm sad I missed the best part of his career. Rest In Peace.

Same here, I pretty much remember him on the Mets.

Greatest living player, after Willie Mays' passing ?

Hell no for cheater Barry Bonds. Maybe Junior.

I did not realize that Mays was in the US Army and missed the entire 1953 season and most of 1952, after he won the Rookie of the Year award in 1951. Some of the greatest old-time players' careers were interrupted due to being in the US Military, especially during WW2.

RIP Willie Mays

I'd vote for Bench.
Bench better than K G Jr? Bench was arguably the greatest catcher of all time, but there are a host of field position players and pitchers that I would have to list far above any catcher who ever played. St Louis also had a great talent in Albert P recently. Hard to pick one in baseball IMO. Basketball is a no brainer.

I attended a wedding Saturday at the Soldiers & Sailors Museum in Pittsburgh and didn't realize until after I got there that it was only a few blocks away from the site of the former Forbes Field.
