What time is Thanksgiving dinner at your house?

We started at 4 - which is way, way too late but we weren't in charge.

Kept the 5 and 8 year old grandchildren Wed who were cough and snot factories. I have never seen so much snot in my life. Really pleasant. Lol.

Wife makes my favorite dish only twice a year - Tgiving and Christmas. She says it's too rich and caloric - broccoli casserole. So I had an excessive amount and that made the dinner awesome.

Controversy arose during gametime. I would appreciate the input of any euchre players. I "went alone", but failed to get the last trick. The rules of the game as I have always played it is that I earn 1 point, but the other two out of town players, according to how they play the game, said they earn 2 points. Hoyle backed me up, but I was wondering if local rules pop up around euchre in places that vary with the Hoyle rules.

One of the guys said, "Anyone who plays like that is stupid." I said, "Go down and get a game in Kentucky and tell those guys they are stupid and let me know how that turns out for you." :)

We've always played a set is 1point regardless of the "bid".

Pie is overrated.
Go pumpkin, or go home.

Had a slice of pumpkin pie with my mocha cappucino to start the day. Felt like I was traveling from Tennessee to Pennsylvania for some reason.

Oh, and some apple crisp with the pie. Told Mrs. Z they qualified as appetizers for any meal.

Kids who have dad's who drink mocha cappecinos have two moms.

Yeah, I have never really heard it done any different. That's how I learned the game, that's what Hoyle says, and I've played the game in a lot of places.

The other team's protest was, "Then why not go alone every time you make trump?" My response was because usually when you make trump you have 2-3 sure tricks and your partner may give you the rest. So if you went alone every time, more often than not, you'd be trading for one point at the expense of not getting 2! But to each his own.

Lol. Was just about to ask exactly how far out of town they were!

We went to a casual two-team euchre party in Columbus last weekend with folks I've never played with. The guy in charge was throwing around some esoteric rules from different locations and sources, and asking us how we wanted to play. But we just played it straight like you did.

Not my house - my son and DIL's. They are my DIL's step family. Her dad died in 2011 and her mom remarried.
Biden voters?
No, surprisingly. Lol.

Just the next county to the north. Their dad was Old Order Amish so I suspect that's where the problem originated. Not likely that an Amish family has a Hoyle laying around!

One point. We played Euchre on Thanksgiving as well. Deals were stolen, reneging occurred, and fights almost broke out. It was great.

I'll go alone on A, K, Q two suited with an off trump Ace. ;)

12:30pm on Saturday. I hate it cuz there's a certain game that day I'd rather watch than sit around the dining room table with my female in-laws who are fake Michigan fans who couldn't tell you the name of 2 players on their roster, or their coach's name, yet they feel obligated to trash talk about a game they know nothing about.
