UPDATED (2/12) - Trivia Question - Long Jump @ State Meet - 25 foot barrier

There have been FOUR (4) winners in the history of the OHSAA State Meet that met or exceeded 25 feet in any of the boys' long jump competitions. Without cheating, can you name the individuals and the years? Hint: One occurrence was wind-aided and did not count as a state record.

Correction: FOUR (4) winners exceeded 25 feet, not the original three (3) I stated. 2023 was extraordinary with two (2) boys exceeding 25 feet in the same year.

Did Nelloms do long jump? I have absolutely no idea but I’d bet on him for anything. 😁
Yes, but never at the state meet. He teamed with state champ Duane Moore for some great LJ relays for Dunbar.

Moore & Nelloms combined for 45-11 1/2 at the 1990 Dayton Relays @ Welcome, and 46-0 (Moore 23-10, Nelloms 22-2) @ the Bellaire Relays. Dunbar had a heck of a trio of jumpers that year with:

Duane Moore - 23' 11 1/4"
Chris Nelloms - 23' 6 1/2"
Chris Raglin - 22' 10"

I'm assuming Johnson from Warrensville Heights is legit. I used to do a lot with school cafeterias and would travel to a lot of schools and look at record boards. His jumped off at me as I really didn't believe it.

I know that D2 and D3 records are well under 25', so unless there was a wind aided, it would stand to reason that the other two are D1 athletes.

Didn't a kid jump 25' in 2023. I was standing there when it happened. It was D1, but I can't remember who it was. Like 25' even. Did the same kid do it in 22? Can't think of the name off the top of my head, but sure it was '23.

After that, I'm stumped.

Shackelford D2 Keystone 25 6 wind aided
He jumped close to that in one or two other meets but there was no wind gauge.

wow, My bad on that. I just remember him struggling in the sprints that year. I completely forgot he was still long jumping that well. A Keystone coach is a good friend of mine and he was so confident they were going to win the state meet. Of course, at best they would have been 2nd. Glenville scored 60. Woodridge 2nd with 34. (couldn't catch a break)

Good guesses. Here are the answers to the trivia question for the 4 athletes who long jumped 25 feet plus at a state championship:

2023 - 25' 0 1/4" (+0.1 mps) - DJ Fillmore (Licking Heights)
2023 - 25' 6 1/2" (+4.3 mps) - Ryne Shackelford (Keystone) <<< I missed this one. Thanks to Bill Carson
1996 - 25' 9 1/2" - nwi (recognized as legal) - Ramon Johnson (Warrensville Heights)
1978 - 25' 7 1/4" nwi (wind-aided, but no reading posted) - Mike Lee (Columbus Briggs) - NOTE: I corrected the year to 1978 from 1977.
