The OHSAA Emerging Opportunities Committee unanimously voted their recommendation to approve Boys Volleyball as a sanctioned sport. This recommendation will be presented to the OHSAA Board of Directors by Commissioner Jerry Snodgrass during their June board meeting, in which then the Board of Directors will motion to approve their recommendation!

This is awesome news. Congrats to all the great people who presented a strong case to move this forward.

Great news!! Hopefully this will open the door for all schools in the state of Ohio to add men’s volleyball. My only concern is if they move the 4 player rule per school in club to 3 like the girls. Hopefully they just drop that rule like KY/California etc

IMO, they should keep it at 4.

Without the rule, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

Without the rule, Elder/X/Moe could each have their own "club" teams. A really good player from a smaller school would have a tough time getting on a good club team because it would be in the club's best interest in promoting their school's players ahead of an equally (or even more) talented kid from another school.

The thing that makes Ohio different is that we care more about the HS season than we do about club.

This is huge, I think!

Check out this link, all the blue dots are teams who apparently have showed interest if it is sanctioned!

The OHSBVA has a done a great job. Hopefully the OHSAA allows those who have worked under the OHSBVA to continue to keep things running as smoothly as possible. The OHSAA has a tendency to mirco-manage things and could in this instance ruin a good thing. More teams is obviously a great thing, being sanctioned is a great thing, but there will be adjustments under the OHSAA's watch.
