Coaches thoughts:

We had a great season of golf for the boys. Anytime you can win a league championship is good and put it together with a bunch of great players. It made the season very enjoyable. I think that one of the reasons for our success this year was the fact that seniors Caden Sherman and Carter Hutchison were very active in getting everyone together this summer to play. They did a great job of making sure our younger players were involved in everything we did. Both of those young men had a great senior season. I know they are a little disappointed right now, coming off of the sectional tournament. However, when the dust settles and they have time to reflect on the past season, they will understand just how good it was. The play of sophomore Noah Hilgenberg was the anchoring force to a team that needed that person who could go low on any given day. You look at how much time and effort those three young men put into their golf games this summer, and you will see why we won the first OCC championship in school history. Add in the play of Freshman Trent Hicks and Will Griffith, who were both big contributors in OCC play. Both of our freshmen gained valuable experience and learned a great deal from the upperclassmen. Coming in and making a varsity team as a freshman is tough to do; these two have very bright futures ahead for the Vikings. We graduate five senior golfers this year: Caden Sherman, Carter Hutchison, Vinnie Multon, Vance Hanger, and Branson Crabtree. Returning to the Viking golf team next year will be Noah Hilgenberg, Will Griffith, and Trent Hicks. When you take a look at our JV team, we have some talented players who will push for varsity time next season. I believe that the depth we have created this season—18 players on the golf roster—will allow us to be very competitive in the league and the central district next year.

Historic Achievement:

This championship marks Teays Valley's first OCC title in their inaugural season, a testament to the team's dedication, skill, and adaptability.
Congratulations to Teays Valley and Reynoldsburg on their outstanding co-championship achievement!
