Trumps mass deportation plan

How would it be paid?
$10,900
The average cost of apprehending, detaining, processing and removing one undocumented immigrant from the United States in 2016, according to figures released by ICE at the time.
After ICE arrested nearly 700 people in raids at seven Mississippi chicken plants in 2019, a local gym opened its doors to kids who’d gotten off their school buses and discovered their parents were missing. TV crews filmed traumatized and desperate kids at the scene, pleading for authorities to release their parents.

After a meatpacking plant raid in rural Tennessee in 2018, 500 kids missed school the next day.
Probably costs $10,000 per year to educate the kids of illegals. I'm guessing the costs to deport are far less than allowing illegals to remain here.

I bet you had a couple of ancestors come here illegally along the way.

They only come here illegally because our system $ucks and they have no choice. They want what everyone else wants, a better life. This boogey man BS has to stop. There is a mantra that has romanticized what immigrants were like in the past vs what they are like to today.

What is happening in Springfield is a result of bad policy as well but it is nothing new going back centuries.
Immigrants in the past didn't get welfare. And they embraced being American, they embraced citizenship. It wasn't merely a transactional relationship.

We HAD a secure border under Trump. We have immigration laws. The last time we elected/installed a Democrat in the Oval Office, he invited the world to defy them. That's why we had an illegal alien invasion. You're nuts, AND you're full of crap.

You're a liar, too.

Filet? I'm more of a ribeye guy. I want those people crossing the border to the South, or any immigrant for that matter who is willing to swing a hammer to be union.

You talk like an ex union woodpecker but your kids ain't cutting the grass or cleaning pools. You are full of self indulged $chit to not realize how badly we need immigrants (and what the cost of not having them is).

OK, you got me, but we need exactly "0" ILLEGAL immigrants.

What you do not appreciate is how supply and demand takes care of itself in the trades without unions. No one needs to give 20% of their income to a "often" self serving bureaucracy. I tried to get my kids into trades, especially plumbers, electricians or HVAC... you can name your price if you are good. Many are too lazy, soft or dumb to figure crap out and do it. Bottom line, people will pay what it's worth, and if you can make sht go away, make a washing machine shake for the lady, you will do well.

The statewide average cost to educate a public school student in Ohio is around $15k per year per student.

That number is likely functionally much higher for migrant students due to schools likely having to contract services (if they have few) or having to hire (if they have many) additional staff and purchase resources for interpretive services and ELL teachers. Aside from language services, a kid from a poorer and/or unstable country is probably more likely to need some form of remedial or special education servicing to fill education gaps, adding more workload and cost.

Feels like a very partisan issue IMO depending on education level, profession/class, and social beliefs.

If I were in a blue-collar occupation and working class/lower middle class, I’d probably never vote for a democrat again due to the present issues in my town. And that’s with having a very heavy “traditional labor Dem” family bias. Driving around this area that’s usually at least somewhat competitive, in general, it seems in terms of yard signs and flags the majority of Harris/Walz signs and flags are in wealthier neighborhoods with the exception of pockets of high minority population working class neighborhoods. Probably 80% or more of signs and flags in working class to true middle class areas are MAGA. Dems have pretty much completely lost their traditional non-college educated, blue collar, male based. And many still have their heads buried in the sand with zero understanding of why it is while they preach from their ivory towers to the peasants.

Not sure, is your mom legal yet?

A vision of the future:

The year is 3024, the United States has a population of 100 billion. The entire continents of Asia, Africa and South America are abandoned because every one of their inhabitants has been imported here. Cats have gone extinct. The Republican governor of Ohio stands up to give a speech:

"We do not have enough workers" he says. "We must welcome 100 million Martians to our planet, or the economy will collapse."

Massillon now has 200 AP poll titles. Akron North is still 0-10.

Trump says he wants to deportation millions.
"Look at the history of ICE and the Trump years, where there was no lack of political will to deport people,” says John Sandweg, an acting director of the agency during the Obama administration. “And the maximum amount they could do (in one year) was 267,000.”

$992 million
The amount the Department of Homeland Security budgeted for “soft-sided” temporary detention facilities along the border in fiscal year 2023.

Trump adviser Stephen Miller has said a mass deportation operation would require officials to build massive facilities for immigrant detentions that could hold some 70,000 people — more than 10 times the capacity of the seven soft-sided facilities in the 2023 budget. Miller has described the plan to build new detention space as “greater than any national infrastructure project we’ve done to date.”

The average time it takes for a case to make its way through immigration court, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University.

8.3 million
The number of undocumented immigrants in the US workforce, according to the Pew Research Center. That’s 5% of the workforce. And the share of undocumented workers is particularly high in certain industries, including construction, agriculture and service.

Ole Bill Clinton was spending $2.5 to $3.5 Billion per year during his second term to round up and deport over 12 million illegals. Even if those numbers are two or three times more in today's dollars, it will be money well spent.

You are not allowed to give positive comments on yappi about any Clinton, even buddy.

Thank only congress where both chambers were ran by the gop, which resulted in
the government shut down in 1995 and 1996.

Union raises used to be in the 2% to 3% per year range (in good years). Today, it is 5% and 6% and more because they can. Contractors and business owners are over a barrel and got no where to turn.

Boeing offered 35% and the union voted it down and is dug in at 40%. I can assure you they will get 40%.

Our skilled trade journeymen just got an immediate 15% in an attempt to lure hires from outside and get production employees interested in becoming apprentices. This is in addition to a 16% over 3 years they got last fall. Starting pay for production has increased 30% from March of 2020. Gotta replace the retiring boomers/older Gen Xers.

Makes sense. The wealthy for the most part went to college and were apparently susceptible to the indoctrination inflicted by said college.

No idea, and neither do you.
Since you and your suggestion that he does not know either means we should just let them stay on our dime or many dollars? We really need to make changes to our immigration laws. One place I would like to start is just because you are born here does not make you a citizen.

The point I am trying to make is we need to stop the pregnant person (I must be turning woke) coming over the border to pop out the baby so they become a USA citizen. To become a US citizen, one provable parent needs to already be a US citizen. As Walter says "We have the technology."

I actually suspect that is going to be a major (and highly partisan) issue in the coming years due to the disparity in birthrates between the nation as a whole compared to legal migrants and illegal aliens. This same pattern exists in just about every EU country as well, and seems to be a growing point of contention across the pond.

I know locally some have already been in meltdown mode over the perceived birthrates of Haitians, most of whom are still sitting on some form of temporary legal status. There is only one hospital in this county with delivery/birthing services for what was a population of roughly 140k, and periodically I see musings about how in the range of 40-50% of current births there are the byproduct of the 15-20k Haitian migrants.

Put'em to work and they'll be paying with their own dimes. And by putting them to work I do not mean by scumbags who use them as perma-temps.

Mass deportations??

Needs done.

Yet does it have any chance of becoming reality?

The people that were fine with all this happening are now trying to do cost analyses of deportation,
since they're so worried about wasting money.

What losers.

Will Trump have to wait until January to start deporting or can he just pull the trigger on November 6th?
