#10) Valdosta '23

Midway through the 1st. Quarter Massillon finds themselves down 14-0 in front of over 10,000 fans at PBTS. The Tigers outscore the winningest team in the country 28-3 the rest of the way to win the nationally recognized game.

#9) Perry '15

Massillon blows an early 27-0 lead to the eventual DII state runners up, in front of 12,600, and needs a TD with 3:34 remaining in the game to seal the victory 41-37 it was an introduction to local rivalries in Nate's very first game as a Tiger.

#8) Canton McKinley '16

In Nate's 2nd McKinley game the Tigers rebound from a 13-7 halftime deficit to win 21-19 in front of 15,216....Nate's first win over McKinley and the first of 8 in a row.

#7) Lakewood St. Ed '22

St. Ed enters #1 in Ohio (DI) and #19 nationally. Massillon found themselves down 14-0 within 2 minutes of the start of the game and down 28-25 with about 2 minutes left. A Pringle forced fumble and recovery and a Slaughter to Toles 24 yard TD pass with 11 seconds remaining gave the Tigers a 31-28 lead. Massillon survived a St. Ed drive deep into their territory and a couple of missed FG's to earn the win.

#6) Boardman. '17

An important game in the turning point of Massillon football. With 9 minutes left in the game Massillon trailed by 2 scores (23-14). Two Longwell TD passes in the 4th brought Nate his first playoff win at Massillon. Who knows what happens if Massillon loses that game.

#5) LaSalle '20

One of three games that Massillon wins after losing to the same team the previous year....all three against state powerhouses. With just under 2 1/2 minutes remaining and the Tigers trailing 10-7, Zach Catrone hits Martavien Johnson on a 48 yard TD pass to go up 14-10. The Tiger D held on from there.

#4) Lakewood St. Ed '23

Over 10,000 fans witness Massillon beat the #1 ranked DI team in the state. St Ed entered #9 nationally and Massillon #20 nationally. Not as dramatic as the 2022 win for the Tigers but probably more important, proving that '22 wasn't a fluke. At seasons end St. Ed has gone 37-2 in their last 39 games with both losses coming to the Tigers.

#3) Hoban '19

A year after losing to Hoban in the 2018 state title game, Massillon and Hoban find themselves in the same region and as expected, meet in the Regional title game. Massillon's 17-14 win ends Hoban's chance at a 5th consecutive state championship and proves Massillon could compete with and beat the states best. Massillon's only 1st down of the second half sealed the game with about a minute left.

#2) Winton Woods '18

Once again Massillon overcame a two score deficit. Down 10-0 in the first, Massillon out scores Winton Woods 41-10 the rest of the way avenging their 2017 loss to the Warriors and launches Massillon's first of 4 title game appearances in 6 years.

#1) Hoban '23

In front of over 14,000 fans, #1 ranked Massillon scored the games only TD after a Chase Bond blocked punt and held off a late push by Hoban to win the state championship 7-2.

Nobody will ever convince me that "only" 14,000 fans were at that game. I know that a friend of mine went and was told to walk in without getting his ticket checked, so maybe only 14,000 tics were scanned at the gate.

In fact, Massillon fans could have their own over/under with that 14,000.

The OHSAA actually reduced the number to 13,000 + but I agree with you that's why I kept it at 14.

That score can’t be right. NOBODY can hang with Marion local
I'd argue that loss to the Moore led Wildcats set off the run they are on. I guess Moore has not only the ability to bring out the best in his own team but sometimes even his opponents after he beats them.

Probably deserves its own thread, but since Minster was brought into the convo, here's a few interesting tidbits about Coach Moore's career...

1. After inheriting a Minster program that went 1-9 in 2009, they went...
a) 7-6 in 2010
b) 9-4 in 2011
c) 9-3 in 2012

2. In his fourth game ever as Minster's head coach in 2010...
Marion Local 41, Minster 6

Week 12 of 2010...
Minster 30, Marion Local 26

3. After finishing 3-7 in his first season at Cincinnati La Salle in 2013, the Lancers followed up with a 14-1 campaign in 2014 en route to their first ever state championship.

4. Since 2010, Coach Moore has lost to the eventual state champion (within his division) seven times...
(*- playoff game; ^- state championship game)
-2010: Delphos St. John's 35, Minster 7
-2011: Marion Local 26, Minster 17
-2011: Marion Local 28, Minster 0*
-2012: Marion Local 41, Minster 34*
-2018: Archbishop Hoban 42, Massillon 28^
-2019: Cincinnati La Salle 34, Massillon 17^
-2020: Archbishop Hoban 35, Massillon 6^

5. Since 2010, Coach Moore is 2-3 in regurlar season games vs. eventual state championships from outside of his respected division...
-2012: (D5) Coldwater 34, Minster 6
-2013: (D1) Archbishop Moeller 31, Cincinnati La Salle 28
-2021: (D1) Lakewood St. Edward 35, Massillon 18
-2022: (D1) Massillon 31, Lakewood St. Edward 28
-2023: (D1) Massillon 15, Lakewood St. Edward 13

Coach Moore's history of building up programs and competing in big games is lengthy! Now that Massillon has finally gotten over the hump, I can only see things getting even better in Tigertown.

Here's something else.

In Nate's first three (3) games as Massillon's head coach (2015)....Massillon gave up 122 points.

Vs Perry W 41-37
Vs GlenOak L 21-37
Vs Warren L 41-48

In all sixteen (16) games this season (2023) Massillon gave up 116 points.

Eh... You "win," but at least you included Harding in your post. ;)
