Mason’s Tom Rapp is retiring at the end of this season. 4 state champs + 3 times runner up. Big shoes to fill.
Link to even one example of those comments that said that because I don't believe anyone ever posted that. Being the largest with good school demographic is a big advantage but still need great coaching to win a state title let alone many of them.I think of all the comments on here through the years that said anyone can win state titles at the largest school in the state.
Right. If I can’t post a link it never happened. If they gave as much credit to the great coaching as you do I wouldn’t even bring it up.Link to even one example of those comments that said that because I don't believe anyone ever posted that. 100% has happened. I don't think Tom would argue with the fact that is the elephant in the room when coaching any sport. You have a better chance to win if you have the Johnnys and the Jimmys. If Tom had returned to his alma mater at Trotwood in Dayton he would not have won as much as he did at Mason.Right. If I can’t post a link it never happened. But that is not the point. Tom is a class act. The results were not the point or end goal. If you know Tom, his program's goal was to create hard-working, good kids who were productive members of society.
In the vast majority of posts on the topic of school size almost no one said "anyone can do it." (I can think of one example. A lot of really stupid stuff gets posted in most discussion forums. This one is actually far, far more respectful and intelligent than most.) Most of the posters went out of the way to acknowledge that it usually takes both good athletes and good coaching to win. Maybe let's try no to re-litigate this discussion in a post congratulating Coach Rapp on a fine career.Right. If I can’t post a link it never happened. Yes, I was talking to the ones that felt Mason’s titles were due to their massive advantage of size far more than coaching. Maybe it was only a few but it was an insult. Coach Rapp will be very difficult to replace. Best wishes to him.In the vast majority of posts on the topic of school size almost no one said "anyone can do it." (I can think of one example.
