The Teays Valley Vikings softball team is gearing up for the 2025 season, led by Coach Derrick Hastler. With a mix of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers, Hastler is optimistic about the team's potential for success and excited to see how they'll stack up against the best teams in the OCC-Buckeye division.

The Vikings return several key players, including seniors Alyvia Lawrentz and Micah Mann. Lawrentz, a pitcher, brings valuable experience to the circle, while Mann's versatility and leadership will be crucial in all facets of the game. Makayla Jones will anchor the team behind the plate.

While the Vikings have some talented returnees, they will need to rely on a number of young players to fill out the roster. Freshman Makayla Jones will take over behind the plate, while Micah Mann will move to shortstop. Junior Ava Ackerman and freshman Sophia Hastler will compete for the starting center field spot.

Despite the youth and inexperience of the team, Hastler is confident that the Vikings can compete in the OCC-Buckeye division. "We're excited to see how our young players will perform," he said.

The Vikings will need to work on replacing the production of last year's senior class, which won a lot of games over their four years. However, Hastler is optimistic about the team's potential and believes that they can overcome their youth and inexperience to have a successful season.

With a strong leadership core and some talented young players, the Teays Valley Vikings softball team is looking to make a statement in 2025.
