Tanner Scott, who got the save for the Marlins Friday night, has been a highly effective reliever for Miami, so naturally he is being projected as a trade target for several teams, including the Yankees. He has pitched for a couple of ex-Indian hurlers during his amateur career. First Jason Stanford at Howland when he was the head coach, then Len Barker at Notre Dame College.

Tanner's brother Tyler was one of 6 Howland football players to end up at Northwestern (The Paternchak twins, Tom Ahern, John Burns, Tyler, and Tommy Carnifax). The play Tyler is best remembered for was when he sacked Braxton Miller, stripped the ball on the way down, and then recovered it in a Saturday night nationally televised game against the Buckeyes.
