Clearly, Springboro has to be the biggest surprise. Sven Weisser making the biggest impact of the Foreign Exchange students.
 
 
Springboro is a big surprise. So is St. X... no wins. Wasn't expecting them to be dead last. Sycamore is clearly the best at the moment, pretty impossible to argue that. Interesting that no Tally guys have been on this site in a while...

Sycamore has been quite too, until now...

Agreed though Sycamore is off to best start, but they still have to play Elks, Beavers, Panthers (again), Braves (again) and Troy. Panthes, Braves, and Troy are all palying better than in the early going. If Collett is hot, he could shutdown those high flying Aves.
 
Springboro isn't a surprise to me. Dayton seems weak this year, and Tony Morris always struck me as they type that would make a ---- of a coach.

I know they've got the talent up there, they just nee everything else.
 
it's pretty clear, Sycamore has the strongest team in the league this season, however, with them only rolling (2) lines, they are open for an upset in the tournament. All it takes is a hot goalie and a few timely bounces. C-ville, Boro, Creek, Tally & Troy are more than capable of pulling the upset.

Game Plan

Agreed, Somebody needs to come up with a game plan, then the team needs to execute. I don't think Sycamore will fall for the "Morris Neutral Zone" trap again. Although, Beavercreek seems to have a tough time with it.

Is is too bad that Sycamore, Centerville, St X, Alter haven't loaded stats on swohshl.com. It would be interesting to have a real picture of who is leading league.
 
Wow its been awhile since I have wrote on here........ Okay Sycamore rolls two lines because that is all we have obviously nobody has watched are jv nobody would benift varsity........... We choose not to load are stats so people dont match up on us most teams already know our top players but with to solid lnes that can put the puck in the net.....We are a solid team but every game is one to be battled out on the ice.

It's a matter of integrity. If all teams don't participate by uploading stats, then post-season honors are called into question.
 
I think you'd have a hard time justifying that not uploading statistics is a "matter of integrity." That's beyond ludicrous.

Still, I think it's worthy to note that Sycamore has proven, once again, to be a very strong team. The coaches' selections for post-season accolades from that team can probably be justified, a point to which their record testifies.
 
Ludicrous? I find the statement completely justifiable and defendable. First the statement was not meant to imply that teams who do not upload lack integrity. I have no way of knowing their reasons. The statement is meant that if all teams do not participate, then the integrity of the records is in question. For example, how could one claim to be the SWOHSHL points leader on the hockey resume for 2009-2010 if all teams do not upload their statistics to SWOHSHL.com

If it is for a competitive advantag, then why are they on preps.cincinnati.com?

That is a good question. I guess the idea of an advantage is gone, and it appears that the site will be updated with Sycamore player stats at some point.

If you were talking record integrity, then I apologize. I took you to mean that the team was being immoral. The concept of record integrity makes sense.
 
The stats on the preps site isn't right if you look into the site there is multiple names for some of the players which screwed stats up................................... It's going to be hard for any team to make a case against Sycamore for who is leading and or who is currently the best in SWOHSHL as of now with the points we are not obviously leading with Boro having 12 points, but Boro is 0-3 now vs Sycamore each game showing the dominate team. 6-1, 4-1, 7-1 wins for Sycamore. A lot will be said on the 22nd and 24th with games against Centerville and Creek. If Sycamore comes out from the get go and plays all out the outcome should be in Sycamores favor.

I respect any team that goes out and plays hard, clean, but still physical hockey. I think the Aves fit that bill. No way meant to imply anthing immoral, have no firsthand knowledge of that nor have I heard anything to that effect. Just like a level playing field and a reality check when people start looking at stats.

yeah, the preps.cincinnati.com site has a bunch of errors in addition to the stats problems. Sad day when software isn't tested before being deployed and then is not fixed after deployment. SWOHSHL.com is in a similar state but I have noticed some corrections lately. Hoepfully both get better. Makes it alot easier for those that like to follow HS hockey.

The Sycamore/Centerville/Creek games will be big to set seeds & expectations for League and District tournament. The question will be how SWOHSHL stacks up against top teams in Capital - Coffman, Moeller, Jerome, Liberty and UA. Beavercreek will get a taste of the latter two at the Ehrnflet Tourney in Strongsville this weekend.

the only reason the you dominated the first game(6-1) and this past one (7-1) is because springboro was missing key players when they had everyone(4-1) it was a close game the whole time until nazeks last goal which made it 3-1 and then you made an empty net goal goodjob. the score doesnt indicate anything about how that game went

Springboro had the vast majority of their best players every time. Sven, the captain, both Studzinskis, their starting goalie, etc.

Sycamore was missing players for various reasons in every single one of those games. Since the Sycamore team is so small, I'd say it's a pretty significant statement when they win 7-1 with only two regular defensemen playing.

Glad to work through that misunderstanding Tim. That's where we see the shortfall of internet fora. Thanks for clarifying your thoughts to me.

Finally, according to hockey234, "the score doesnt indicate anything about how that game went." I don't even know how to reply to that. That honestly has me puzzled.
 
SWOHSHL Finish

I don't see the Springboro lead in the standings holding up. Sycamore is down by 2 pts with 5 games left to play: Elks, Beavers, Panthers, Oxford, and Troy. Clearly the head to head game is the most important, but the Aves could easily run the table. At very least there 3-2 (16 pts), probably 4-1 18 pts, and could finsih 5-0 (20 pts).

Springboro has Sycamore and Centerville left - maximum pts is 16, but my bet is 14 at most.

My bet is they meet in the South division final in the League Torunament.

North division will be Beavercreek vs Centerville.

first of all i was talking about the first time we played you and dj (stud) didnt play cause he got in a fight the weekend before so he was suspended and i never said you guys werent bettter then us clearly you have proved you are good but you act like youre the best team around and you are far from it. good job on winning the shootout does anyone know who won it last year and who it was against...
 
It's pretty embarrassing when you have to bring up a game that happened over a year ago as your only answer to having lost three straight. If I were you, I'd stop talking.

Neutral Zone Trap?

I, for one, would like to know why the neutral zone trap didn't work this year? Was it attempted? Somebody has to come up with a game plan that can be implemented to take down the Aves. The old "score more than them" doesn't seem to be working. :confused:

Who was missing in the championship? As far as statistics go the president of the organization or a parent usually keeps all the scoresheets so it wouldn't be too hard to gather them. The box scores and scorers are also reported to the local cincinnati newspaper

The SWOHSHL Commissioner sent the coaches or contact of record an Admin login for the SWOHSHL Web Site. The coach (or POC) is supposed to load stats afterthe Commissioner posts the final score. I have heard the new site is not as user friendly as it could be but with sme persistence one could learn it. Unfortunately, my understanding is that it has to be done game by game. So if someone is going to start loading now, they are going to have to do it once for each game played. Maintaining stats is a task done better game by game - kinda like homework- seems a lot harder when you do a years worth in a day.

yes the aves have a good team this year, but they are still being competetive. Talawanda gave them a great game last week, so theres no reason why centervill,beavercreek, or springboro can't knock them off playing straight up no gimmicks. lol. no neutral zone trap, so i think it is going to be very interesting come swohshl tournament time, every team aside from alter and X has a shot this year.
 
Sycamore won twice this weekend in league play against centerville and creek so if they beat dpringboro next weekend they will be the league regular season champs
