very good assessment!Don't want to get too into the weeds, because I do know a lot the players in the league from travel ball, but here's what I think (obvious caveat is that I don't know who has hurt their arm, which seems to be an alarming number of pitchers every year anymore):
1. Mason: Even though they lost a lot, they were a dominating state championship team and are just going to reload. Top two in the rotation in the younger Hanley and Visconti should be extremely good.
2. Lakota East: 5 starters back out of their 9 and return all but 58 innings on their staff, and the staff should be very good. Wouldn't surprise me if they beat Mason for the league title, but Mason is the champ until they knock them off.
3. Lakota West: Return pretty much their whole team, but I don't think they quite have the pitching depth that Mason and East will have.
4. Princeton: Going to have a sensational lineup, but the pitching just isn't there.
5. Oak Hills: Pretty much just like Princeton. Really good lineup and not a lot of pitching.
6. Hamilton: Lost a couple of really good players from last year, but should be solid.
7. Fairfield: Return most of their lineup, but it didn't hit last year. Pitching is OK.
8. Sycamore: Won't be great and not sure they will hit much, but they return a lot.
9. Colerain: Another team that just couldn't hit last year, and they lost their two best pitchers.
10. Middletown: They lost all of their best players and are not going to have any pitching.
I played for Sowders waaaaaay back when during a summer. Very good coach and just a hilarious person. Biggest thing I think holding Oak Hills back from the top teams is nobody on their staff (that I know of) is a high velocity guy (85+) and they hit zero HR last year with a home field that is relatively hitter-friendly. Not to say you can't be a really good team without either of those things, but, even at the high school level, baseball has become a power vs. power pitcher-hitter battle, and Oak Hills doesn't have a lot of either. I like a lot of their junior class though.very good assessment!
I would not sleep on oak hills being the dark horse in the GMC. Sowders knows his stuff! IF the parents allow him to coach the team and run the program they could be a top GMC team!
He is a good dude for sure! My nephew played for him at Harrison and he has ALWAYS been a no BS , cut right to the chase kinda guy! He and his Brother Shane have coached Football at Taylor for awhile now.I played for Sowders waaaaaay back when during a summer. Very good coach and just a hilarious person. I agree with you. Mason's coach has a history of mismanaging big games. But dang, he won the State this year. I am off his back at least for 2025.Mason, much like Moeller teams, will reload and be the powerhouse we have become accustomed to of late. They do bring back some great arms...
Someone said that they can't pick on the coach... I beg to differ. Not sold on him, even though he won state. I think he has been outcoached or has under coached games that I have seen them play over the years. Again, it's just my opinion but a lot of GMC coaches feel the same way.
They have some talent and if they can keep a decent coach for a few years, they can be competitive. I know it is a big if, but Princeton did have a fellow got to OSU last year. he struggled as a freshman but Iam interested to see what happens with the new coachI don't have a dog in the fight, but to put Princeton 2nd in GMC is a far reach according to GMC stats. The site shows their best finish recently was 4th in 2023, and then you have to travel back over a decade to 2008 where they finished 4/5th. The best finish on the site is 2007/2006 where they had a 2nd place GMC team. Odds say that's not happening, but that's why you play the games!
Nice graphic. I did not think tryouts started until after President's Day. But I have been out of the loop for a while.Pitchers and catchers reporting today (MLB), Mason's first scrimmage (Centerville) is a month from today.
So what's going on out there???
New coach at East.. Right? What's the scoop?East or Mason at the top then everyone else. Would be shocked if one of those two didn't win it. East on paper wins, but Mason will always be right up there. East having a win over Mason last year and them bringing back most of their roster should provide some confidence in those matchups, even if the win wasn't against Mason's 1, 2, or 3 last year. First year head coach, wouldn't be surprised if he's got those boys fired up for a new era of East baseball.
Princeton has some great pieces offensively, don't think they'll have the pitching to compete with a 1 or 2 loss East/Mason.
West returns a lot, have some good pieces on the mound and at the plate.

Well heck, if you can't support a Sod Poodle, then I don't know what to tell you! Good Luck to East!An East grad who made a name for himself at Ball State before playing professionally for a while. He’s spent several years in baseball training and has coached under Ray Hamilton in recent seasons.

West is returning 14 seniors and also adding two more this year. They have a total of 16 seniors on the squad this year. They have a good pitching rotation Smith, Wilburn, Wright, Green. (All seniors) Also, they are returning most of their position players so they should have a well-rounded lineup as well. Possibly, a strong team that can post some upsets to some of the bigger baseball teams in the GMC.East or Mason at the top then everyone else. Would be shocked if one of those two didn't win it. I so hope you are correct. Just have not seen this AD and coaching staff maximize their kid's potential. I hope this is the year.West is returning 14 seniors and also adding two more this year. I attended the LW/Moeller scrimmage yesterday and from what I witnessed, the best pitcher for West was #19 first name Drake. He had very good velocity and composure considering he was facing a team with no easy outs in the lineup. Maybe this kid's last name is included in the above mentioned rotation but I just don't know. The rest of the West's staff was Ok but not nearly as effective as #19. GBMWest is returning 14 seniors and also adding two more this year. They have a total of 16 seniors on the squad this year. Sowders will compete!!!! he has arms that can keep them in games. Will they be able to hit is my question. The top 3 teams in the GMC right now are:
1. West
2. Mason
3. Oak Hills
Each team only has one loss. Should be a great battle to see who stays atop the league.
Sowders has his guys playing down at Oak Hills. Are they good enough to top Mason and Lakota West?

Is Mason all field turf, or just the infield?West 3
Mason 2
Looks like the Comets had 3 errors.
Both teams now 10-1 in the league.
Rematch scheduled for Friday @ Mason (but rain in the forecast so we'll see).
Just the infield. Is Mason all field turf, or just the infield?
