Summer Softball

Well my grand daughter 15 years old traveled from southern Ohio to North Ridgeville Ohio for a tournament this passed weekend. Travel expense, two nights in a motel cost of eating out and the team play poorly, rained out Saturday, lost first game Sunday and home you come. This travel thing can sure get in your back pocket.

Taylor MS and HS players fill out a lot of Ohio Hawks rosters and they travel out of state a BUNCH!

Incoming Freshmen Emma King and her Ohio Hawks 2027 (yes she plays up a grad year!) Just punched their ticket to the PFG nationals last weekend as well!

Taylor sophomore Ellie Stafford and her Top Gun elite 14U team just won the Scenic City Super Regional in Chattanooga Tenn. She was named MVP

I always liked the scenic city, Great Competition and a ton of college coaches. About 12 years ago we had late night 16U game at the stadium vs. a very good East Cobb Bullet team. There must have been 20 DI college coaches watching the game under the lights. We had back to back mamouth home runs in the 6th to dead center to take the lead 5-4. It was one heck of a game as they had the top of their order do what the top does and string together a couple hits and a mis played ball that sent us down 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th.

We are in North Ridgeville this weekend. Miserable amount of traffic due to an inflatables fair in the same complex.

Interesting driving around today, all the softball fields are wide open. Maybe someone let their dog off the leash but otherwise, totally empty fields. So strange how so many people are playing softball in the months of April through July but it gets shutdown for almost everyone in August.

I know some of the organizations some of the Taylor girls play in are running camps/scrimmages ect ect. lots of practice but not many games

Usually its the other way around so some may see that as a positive.
I don't know much on the softball side of things. BUT on my sons baseball team that I coach we have had about 12 out door practices since summer ball has ended.

We gave them 4 weeks off of no baseball activity. We are back to 2 practices a week and have played in 1 tournament.
