He (Larlham) was one of the 8 finalists the last time this job was open. It came down to the Kent State assistant and Phillips. It seems like they are looking elsewhere this time.

This should bring in a lot of attention. Had no clue the HC was planning to step aside. Solid program in a solid community, so this one will be interesting to see applicants and the ones that get interviews.

On a different but related topic: Stow's looking into the feasibility of building a new fieldhouse apparently? Does anyone have any more details on this?

I didn’t bring the name up. Someone else did. Check the thread.
Your choice of wording could have been better????

"Probably will have a difficult time being a head coach in the near future."

Can you elaborate on both points?

" No real need to here"

This is an option for schools and communities with the Covid money that they are getting.

Although I know the reason why. Why would you bring his name up? Nobody in thread asked about him, seems like you mentioned his name just so you could.
Exactly, absolutely makes no sense to bring someone's name into a conversation. What Tomfoolery is this?

Will be very interested to hear what direction this goes. I haven’t seen it mentioned but had heard in the past Poder would want this job.

Anyone know the holdup on this job? Has the posting date ended? Has the interview process started? Are there know applicants? Anything on this at all??

Schools can only offer A certain number of years experience (ex. 10) when looking at candidates outside of the district. It is accurate to say that in their final group of candidates there were a mix of coaches/teachers with many years of experience and those with less than 10. The experienced finalists have a cut in pay to deal with. Decisions certainly being made. Would not be surprised to see a younger coach get this but who knows.

Believe it depends on the teaching union contract, some schools have it defined others don’t. But this true many good candidates with with many teaching years turn jobs down because schools only can offer a lower number in years of tenure

It appears that coach will be announced on Monday. They were deliberating between three (don’t know who) and they have a board meeting on Monday, including an executive session.

All three were head coaches at area schools last year. One is in Stark, one is in Summit, and one is in Portage. Two have many years of experience and one is younger.

Isn’t executive session typically private. I wouldn’t think the board needs to discuss it and it would be a simple approval like the other personnel decisions.
It is typically private, but this isn’t uncommon for two reasons:

1. It gives the board the opportunity to talk with the hiring committee to get the final seal of approval.

2. It allows them to not put the name on the board agenda, like most hires. If they put it in the personnel agenda, everyone would already know.
