It looks like the expansion of the boys to 2 divisions has broadened the participation in the state meet without noticeably slowing the D1 meet. The D1 meet remains one of the most competitive and fastest state meets in the country and the D2 meet is not far behind.
Our coaches and swimmers at St. Francis all knew that we false started in the 200 free relay and accepted it graciously. All 4 swimmers listened to the officials and gathered their things and walked away without throwing anything or exhibiting any negative reactions. The parents are the ones with the video who tried to enter it as evidence. Also, nobody on our team protested the finish of the 400 free relay. I just wanted to clear this up.
I always LMAO when I see the state results and see by how much STX won...
I dont understand why its so funny. I mean they have no competition in there district meet so of course they qualify a ton of swimmers and yes they won as a team but they only won one event and that was the 200free relay they have a lot of depth and some great swimmers but I don't think its funny really the only thing that might be funny is how people are so rapped up in a state title as a team when your individual swimming and your individual grades is what gets you into college.
No compeition in their District meet?!! First of all you are not very educated to say that. The SW District is the fastest meet top to bottom in the state. Even if it wasn't competitive times make it to state not your place at your district meet.
Clearly you are all about yourself as a swimmer. Hopefully you learn something about being a teammate and realize how important winning conference championships, state meets, etc. are to teams in High School and the Collegiate level.
I was trying to say that they dominate there district yes the southwest is very fast but what i was getting at is that if they had to go up against another power house school like st fran. they wouldnt qualify as many swimmers.
idk i think if you threw st f in there district things might be different. I'm not bashing on st x or saying that there no good. They are a great team they do a great job at winning the state meet every year i was just trying to say that people on here focus a little to much on the state title. There is more to highschool swimming then just that not every team can win a state or a conference title so sometimes is just good to focus on your teams progress and the improvement of times for individuals. I was just rechecking the southwest district and the depth for the times is ridicules but compared to the st x kids they really dominated all the other meets in the southwest district there were a few very fast times out of some of the other meets but nothing to compete with them. Again I'm not trying to bash on st x at all but my beliefs are that when it comes to the state meet the focus shouldn't be on winning the state meet unless you obviously a power house team that has the depth to do it. Instead the focus on enjoying the hype of the meet and having great swims is what it should come down to. The state meet is probably the funnest meet I have ever been to even junior and senior nationals doesn't compare to the hype and the intensity of ohsaa state meet. My team one two relay titles and because we dqed our medley we didn't make it into the top 3 as a team of 5 guys but that doesnt make a difference because we were just as happy as university was and they won the meet. So winning your conference meet or district meet or ncaa meet or whatever isnt always what is important BigSwimFan sometimes it IS about your individual performance because your individual performance can and will effect the way your team reacts and swims. Not a single St. X kid who qualified to state needed an automatic bid to get there. Therefore, it doesn't matter at all who is in there district. You could have thrown in Upper Arlington too and the same number of X kids would have qualified.
I always LMAO when I see the state results and see by how much STX won...
Many Bombers just humble and proud of the sucess of the swim team.
As well they should be...
But, the margins of victory are, literally, comical.
I'm not saying its a good or bad thing...just saying I almost fall off my chair laughing when I peruse the results...
Unsure how closely you follow St. X swimming? The last time the margin of victory was signficant was in 2007. In 2008 the Bombers came in second place to a great St. Charles team. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the championship came down to the last couple of races. The margin of victory was very close.
I agree all the way Erik. It was so great to see you swim at sectionals, districts, and state this year. I was really impressed with the way that you ended up talking to and forming a competitive friendship with two of my swimmers at the district meet this year. That carried over to you coming over and wishing them and the rest of their teammates good luck while at dinner at Bravo in Canton one evening. You did not have to do that. The fact that you did, speaks volume of the character that you have. Your family, friends, teammates, coaches, and members of Lima Shawnee High School should be very proud and honored to have such a humble, charismatic, and genuine young man in their lives.
But hey thats what makes it fun and interesting. I have never seen the university team so proud to win the d2 state title then this year when they were not looking to good going into the meet and everyone doubted they could win and in the end they squicked it out it was amazing and I was so happy to see that were able to do what everyone else doubted thats what the state meet is all about. And Mokey I was just trying to say the same. I didnt see the comedy in this years state meet.
I totally agree, there is no comedy in the margin of victory at the state meet. The remarks were arrogant and demeaning. Probably said to generate some hate towards the Bombers.
Congratulations on your success so far, and best wishes to you in your swim career. Many Bombers checking your results and wishing you the best.
