I think the ranking is pretty much a list of schools that had a stand out season in one sport and did fairly well in a couple of others.
It's not even close to an "all-sports" ranking or a ranking of schools with the best athletic programs as it claims. It's pretty shallow.

Ashley Brignac surrendered just 14 hits all year and threw 18 no-hitters. She went 25-0 on the season with a 0.00 ERA with 421 strikeouts in 159.2 innings pitched to help lead the Patriots to the Class 2A state title. She also hit .500 with six homers while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and was co-valedictorian of her class.
This may be the most dominant athletic season I have ever seen.
I agree this was a dominate performance, but you understand John Curtis is in the second smallest classification in Louisiana (2A). I question how they could compete in Southern California.
