Good job by MLB to finally do something about the sticky stuff, but this is yet another of Manfred's failings to let it get to this point and then all of a sudden step up enforcement during the middle of a season. This should've been handled five years ago.

On the other hand you have Tyler Glasnow, who apparently was so reliant on cheating that he forgot the proper mechanics of pitching, then injured himself when he wasn't allowed to cheat anymore. Glasnow is blaming MLB for his UCL injury. Lmao

Either way it will make the next couple of months interesting, which baseball needs. Should be glaringly obvious who was cheating within the next two weeks

Some of these guys have probably been doing something their whole career. Be interesting to see what some of these guys do without assistance.

Agree it was handled poorly but would expect nothing less

Agreed that as usual, MLB is handling the issue poorly, and also agree that Glasnow's claim is ridiculous. But there is a lot of merit in the comments, particularly by Bauer, about the poor timing of the change. MLB is easily the most poorly managed professional sports league, and that is saying something with the NHL out there setting a high bar.

Hilarious how some are blaming the enforcement for injuries.
the balls are slick...

They are not right out of the plastic bag. they get rubbed up by clubbies before games.

those cheaters who are whining are just making themselves look foolish.

PITCHER WITH HIS PANTS OFF ALERT!!! Well it only took till Day 2 before the pitchers started pushing back by literally stripping on the mound. Managers requesting guys get checked is going to lead to more guys getting beamed than pimping home runs.

^Agreed. Scherzer was pi$$ed off when the Phillies manager requested he be checked a 2nd time. They looked about ready to fight. Opposing managers should not have the right to request a search - it is 100 a head game tactic.

Dude from the A's straight took his pants down. Agree that managers shouldn't be able request checks if they're already constantly doing them. Where's it stop?

What Romo did was completely out of line. It's not the umpire's fault you moron, quit taking it out on them. Also, Scherzer's spin rate last night was down, so it's obvious he was using something.

I can't wait to see the article in two weeks or so that shows who has had the biggest dropoff in spin rates. A lot of these pitchers are going to get totally exposed as frauds and they are not happy about it.

Players should PSYOP them right back.
Constantly look suspicious... wiping leg, hat, chest,, glove, etc like they are trying to cheat....
