Southwest Tourney talk..

I will make some picks later when I get off work, but for the most part the watered down brackets look like a chance to pad stats and not much more in the early rounds. Anderson looks solid in D2 and would be impressive if they run the table. Springboro and Oak Hills seem like a walk through D1 for one of them although Seton seems to rise up come tourney time. Bellbrook in D3 although Badin is battle tested and might make some noise? D4 will go with Summit, again new brackets just take away a lot of the tough games. D5 is all Madeira and it's not even close. Looks like 12 teams in D5 have winning records? Never heard of Legacy up North, impressive record but I doubt they have played the schedule Madeira has?

I have forgotten, which is home team on the bracket? It used to be the top team but I seem to remember a change but I can’t remember what the change was.

I agree that this is stat padding time, but at least their is now a mercy rule in place. Th

D1
Oak Hills plays more GMC Patsies. I just can't decide who makes it out of D1 Springboro of Oak Hills. I'm pulling for Oak Hills.

D2
Anderson has to be the favorite, another matchup vs MND will be exciting, what a game the last one was.

D3
Badin or Bellbrook. Leaning Badin, but could be a surprise. No Clue who's going to come out of SW2

D4
Summit. Just don't see any way that anything different happens here.

D5
Madeira, see above notes on Summit.

Springboro must have decided to go to Columbus. They are not south bracket

Disclaimer I honestly did not know half of these schools were in Ohio.

D1:
Some great early matchups. Seton vs East. Lebanon vs Lakota West. Sycamore vs Milford. OH vs Mason regional final. Fairfield vs. Seton could be a good rematch of a district final from Seton beating Fairfield earlier this year.

D2:
While I think Harrison has had a great season, MND is always tournament ready. I think we will see a rematch of MND vs Anderson in a regional final. Will SUA finally get it together? SUA vs Harrison could be fun.

D3:
Ross and Badin will go far. The other South brackets seem like toss ups. Winner of Turpin/Mercy Mcauley will beat Batavia.

D4:
Summit.. Summit.. Summit.. I do see McNicholas getting out of South 1. Mariemont will come out of South 3.

D5:
Madeira State Champs. Nobody is even going to give them a game.

Legacy used to be called Xenia Christian.

Not to shabby on my first round. I probably got a better chance on calling the Mercy games than anything else. Good news is we are underway!
Congrats to all those surviving the first round!

What a start to the D4 and D5 tournaments last night. Blowouts as expected by a few but two games end in golden goal OT and one goes to PKs. Looking forward to Thursday when D3 joins the party and next week when D1 and D2 join. More blowouts still expected Thursday but excited to see what drama unfolds in a few games like last night!

Not too shabby. Went 38-5 for 88%
Got all the MERCY games right except 1.

Way too many teams in D5. Next year should expand to D6 and maybe even D7.

Serious question for those in the know why does D1 only have 64 teams while D5 has to contend with 130 to win a title?

Kyles Mom stand by I promise I will miss a heck of a lot more. :ROFLMAO:
Only 5 misses last night. Pretty good as there were 10 games decided by one goal or less and picking by seed would have generated 6 misses. Turpin, Tecumseh, Milton Union, and Miami East were the one goal or PK winners you missed. Georgetown winning 7-0 was your only bad miss (even though it was a slight upset by seed) as they had already defeated Clark 8-1 in the regular season. I assume that result must have come too late in the season to affect seeding.

Monday games a little better down South.

OHSAA placed the top 64 enrollment/Competitive balance schools in D-1 in boys and girls. Did that as there is a huge disparity in numbers when just dividing up all schools by the five divisions. (Some of the biggest schools have enrollments over 1,000). Then the remaining schools, after lopping off the top 64 are then evenly divided in the last 4 divisions.

Snow, thanks but how is that fair? I mean D1, D2 and D3 only have to play in a group of 64, while D4, D5 have to play in a group of 120+
In this day and age I suspect there will be some action initiated eventually. You add D6 and D7 as was originally talked about you balance it out across the board. Time will tell I guess!
