Southlake Carroll Loses To Abilene

I think Dodge went out in the second quarter. He was 8-8 and 2 TD's at the time. Abilene trailed 14-9 at the half. Tough way to go out.

Without RD that offense was very anemic. Padron was off all game long. RD went out after SLC scored to go up 14-3 early in the 2nd quarter.

Apparently SLC had the ball on the Abilene 8- 10 yard line with one time out left with under 30 seconds to go and fumbled on a QB sneak to improve field goal position that Abilene recovered. I guess that balances out the bone head call of the Trinity coach last year. Trinity by the way is rolling Permian 35-7 today.

Lol- Lol-lol

I told ya so. No title. The only thing I can say, HEEE HEEE HEEEE. I dont want to hear about Dodge going down. St. X has managed to continue with a soph. QB'n.

I remember a poster saying Wasson got outcoached earlier in the year. Lightening strikes twice. He can go have a beer with the Trinity coach and talk about boneheaded calls.

The score was 14-9 SLC at the half. It is not like SLC was blowing them out when Dodge went down.

This game was going to go down to the wire if Dodge was in or not.

1 player did not lose the game for SLC. Once again Newton fumbles which led to the Abilene go ahead touchdown.

Here are some facts about the game:

1. Riley Dodge was knocked out of the game on the same play he threw a TD pass early in the 2nd quarter. He probably would have been out for the rest of the playoffs even if SLC had won. That TD pass put SLC up 14-3. SLC scored only 7 points over the next almost three quarters.

2. SLC drove the ball 80+ yards to the Abilene 10 yard line in the last 90 seconds of the game. As the clock ticked down to 10 seconds the SLC QB went up under center with the intent to spike the ball and stop the clock. He fumbled the snap and Abilene recovered. Coach Wasson will take heat for that call because SLC had one time-put remaining. All SLC had to do was call time out and kick a very short FG to win the game.

3. Tre Newton fumbled about midway through the 4th quarter in SLC territory which gave Abilene a very short field to score the go-ahead TD.

4. SLC's best defensive player (arguably), Derek Tomlin was also injured.

Congrats to Abilene.

I think SLC would have scored around 35 points if Dodge didn't leave the game. He left very early in the 2nd quarter with SLC up 14-3.

Lack of depth for SLC?

X went 15-0 and played several games without Darius Ashley and lost their starting QB late in the season... while playing the nation's toughest schedule.

from the Dallas Morning News:

Aided by two personal foul penalties, backup quarterback Kyle Padron guided Carroll to the Abilene 10 with less than 30 seconds remaining. Trying to save Carroll's last timeout, Padron lined up under center, rather than the usual shotgun formation, and fumbled the snap.

I seem to recall other important Carroll drives in other prominent games that were helped by (questionable) personal foul calls

this time it wasnt good enough

Remember how MNW kneeled down twice or so at the end of the SLC game from the shotgun, and everyone thought it was strange (and a bit reckless)?

Maybe SLC should have spiked it from the shotgun.
