With Vanguard 18-1's having a few tournaments under their belt, how do you think they will finish? I think the last team from Ohio to attend this tournament was Northcoast 18's in 2001. I don't think they earned a bid?

Scva

Vanguard got a 22 seed. They also drew a very difficult seed on their net with Pakmen U18. There is a lot of complaining about seeding as it seems like SCVA placed more value on their points league and gave little credit to Chicago or NCVA. Here is the blog link:

As an observation Las Vegas got a great seed but got crushed by Vanguard in Chicago. HBC got a 5 seed after finishing 25th in Chicago.

There are at least 7 teams already with bids in the tourney. If they play well this could open up bid spots into mid-Silver bracket.

All indications are that the 18s bracket is stacked. Vanguard should have lots of fun.

Looking at some of these teams, I really do believe that Vanguard is a top 15 team basing off how they did in Chicago. Now granted this weekend will be tougher, but their losses in Chicago included: a respectable 3 game loss to Hitmen, a 2 game sweep by Adversity to go to Gold (who won Gold), and a super tight 3 game loss to Club 1 for the Silver championship. I see them fighting their way to silver and battling for a bid, or missing opportunities and going to Bronze.

What 7 teams have bids? I only see 6:

MVVC 18 Red (1st, North Cal)
NCVC Asics 18-1 (3rd, North Cal)
Bay to Bay 18-1 (4th, North Cal - Lakeside 18 declined)
Aspire 18 Rox (5th, Chicago)
AZ Fear 18 MS (5th, Chicago)
Yorktowne 18 Blue (2nd, Rochester)

Here are the results from each qualifier so far..

Finishing 18th sounds about right. Probably a bit higher than I would guess. I think if they play close to their potential they could finish in the 10-13 range, but I could see as low as 29-33.

Good luck to them representing Ohio and being the highest seeded team out of the Midwest or East Coast

I agree that there are only 6 teams that have bids in the 18 open group. Thus far this season there are only 12 bids extended.

Bay to Bay 18-1 (NC) Far West
MVVC 18 Red (MVVC 18 Red) Far West
NCVC Asics 18-1 (NCVC Asics 18-1) Far West
Adversity 18 Purple (GL) BWCV
Aspire 18 ROX (AZ) BWCV
CUVC 18 Boys Onslaught (CR) BWCV
AZ Fear 18 MS (AZ) BWCV
HPSTL B18 Royal (GW) BWCV
SPVB B18 Mizuno (GL) BWCV
Eden Mizuno 18 (WE) (1) Roch
Roch PaceBootlegger18 (WE) (3) Roch
YORKTOWNE 18 BLUE (KE) (2) Roch

Bolded will be at SCVA

My bad. I had heard speculation Adversity would show up.

Still pretty cool that this tournament will have almost half of the open teams for the BJNC. 6 bids playing and 10 given.

Vanguard 18s are in Bronze bracket today playing at 12 pm Est. One of the parents is periscoping their matches.

They've played well so far. A bit unlucky. They played Balboa Bay(Overall #1) taking first set and having match point in second set. A post said they were victim of a terrible call in third set giving match to Balboa. They also went 3 sets to COAST which would have put them into the challenge match for Gold/Silver. So far COAST and Balboa have only lost 1 set each getting to Gold and those were to Vanguard. They also had Pakmen on ropes losing in 3.

Finish range is 17-24.

Finished in a four way tie for 21st. About what most people would have expected. They now need to get a bid in Indianapolis next weekend. I would consider it very likely based on their performance and other teams attending
