Should the Super Bowl date be moved?
There you go. I came here to say that.If anything, move it to Saturday night.
Most? Who has President’s Day off? I haven’t been off on that day since college.Once the NFL goes to a 18 game schedule with 2 bye weeks for each team, they will start the season on Labor Day weekend and finish with the Super Bowl on Presidents Day weekend thus most people watching the SB on that Sunday will have that Monday off.
Exactly. I like the week off to help get the teams healthy, but the Sunday night slot is silly. Not Monday night National Championship silly, but still ridiculous. If anything, move it to Saturday night.
You believe most people who watch the super bowl are government employees? I think in our area some business professionals and working class trades people watch it.Once the NFL goes to a 18 game schedule with 2 bye weeks for each team, they will start the season on Labor Day weekend and finish with the Super Bowl on Presidents Day weekend thus most people watching the SB on that Sunday will have that Monday off.
I think you are correct. I remember several years back they took the media week out and played the game just 7 days after the conference championship games. I kind of forgot about the game until yesterday. So I was actually anticipating it much less than if they had posted it last weekend. Keep it in January or first weekend of February. Putting it mid February is too late.18 games, no preseason games. Waste of time. One week between the championship games and the SB. Our short attention spans can't go two weeks, too many other things happen. We play games on Sunday and turn around and play Thursday during the season with two teams a week. Guys sit all the time.

But my private school math informs me 39% would not be most? Or do you think 39% plus government employees, plus retirees plus students equals more than 50 percent? That actually might be true.More than just govt employees get Presidents’ Day off. This articles is from 8 years ago but it states 39% of employees get the holiday off

Less than 40 percent of employers give Presidents' Day as a paid holiday, says a national survey.www.cleveland.com
Plus the host cities get another hotel night out of everyone there watching the game. Scott Van Pelt said on his podcast that the day after the national championship game at the ATL airport was an absolute nightmare. I assume you could say the same about the NO airport this morning....No leave it exactly where it is, Sat. night messing with H.S. Bball games, college bball,. Time slot (6:30) works great for a Sunday night, and I am sure the NFL (and Advertisers) has done the math and Sunday night 6:30 pm start draws the most fans, the ratings back that up. Start SB at 8PM on Sat. night how many people are going to be watching at 11 pm and the advertisers know this.
I remember when it happened well, because MY team was in it for once. Normally I hate the two week runup, but my team, the Tennessee Titans was in the SB in 2000 and they only had 1 week for some reason.I think you are correct. I would be all for cutting it down to 4 teams from each conference as well, to make the regular season more pertinent.
