Wow. Very interesting that the reigning State Champions lost their first game of the season. What happened?

I don't think it's that interesting that the reigning State Champions ranked #11 in the country lost to another State Champion in a larger State and ranked #3 in the country. I am actually surprised that they didn't lose by more. Judging from the interview by the coach on WKYC I guess her role player idea doesn't work. When you tell your players their role is to support 2 players this is what happens. What happened? The next time you watch a Twinsburg game watch player selection and roster. Every player in the starting line up is a senior with exception to Morrisette which Solis would and have sat her too if she could get away with it. Take a look and pay attention you will see what happened.

In a previous thread somebody said a coach would not lose a game based on seniority, favoritism etc I guess you were wrong. You can get away with this on a State level with less competition and 2 star players to bail you out. On a national level which is much higher. You will be exposed.

WOW!! Julie Solis's third loss in 3 years. A little harsh. What's the matter your sophomore daughhter not gettin her minutes? Get a life. She's the best girls BB coach Twinsburg has ever had and has won a state title. The first team title in the schools history. I can't tell how stupid your post sounds. I feel sorry for you. I really do.

You must be her husband

People ALWAYS hate the truth. I think it's sad that the first thing people do is blame a disgruntle parent. If you only knew!!! What if I told you my daughter graduated from one of her programs? What if I told you that my kid was one of the seniors who were in the starting line up through this time period? TB would have won that title REGARDLESS. Stop giving Solis worthless credit. However, I know several kids and parents from Solis present and past teams. Let me ask you to do some homework and check the starting line ups from the last 5-7 years. Then feel sorry for me. Facts are Facts.
Either a senior or team parent (friend) coaches vacation buddy or baby sitter.

If you are a kid looking to be judged by skill level. Forget it. Skills will not be enough for this team.

WOW! again. I think you need to seek some therapy. You have many unresolved issues. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of free clinics in the area. Please seek help. You are very disturbed.

I have to agree with runningoutoftime about favoritism you can not win with everyone else expecting to play around one or two favorites that a coach thinks can carry a team, Basketball is a total team sport . Rotation is a must.

You have called me disturbed and a disgruntled parent but not once have you called me a liar. I appreciate that, because we both know Facts. Right hubby?

Not her hubby. Maybe in my dreams. I'm old enough to be her dad, who I met and he is a really nice, so is her mom. You say she only plays seniors. That's funny. Two years ago she started 2 sophomores(Howard-Fechko), 1 Freshman (Morrisette), 1 Junior (Fox) and 1 senior (Monehy). Southworth came off the bench that year. Last year 2 seniors, 2 juniors and a sophomore started. Yes this year she has a 4 seniors and 1 junior starting. Considering she has 7 seniors on the team , that's not unexpected. She will play several line ups this year that will have 2 seniors and 3 juniors on the floor. She has 4 quality juniors this year and an above average sophomre that will see plenty of playing time. So I guess I'm calling you a liar. You probably haven't seen her coach since she left Solon more than a handful of times. I missed the games this weekend for the first time in many years at Twinsburg. Stop up and see me at a game sometime. I sit behind the Tigers bench at home games, but first seek the help I reccommended earlier.

You sound just like her. Tell me how can you get around NOT playing Howard? Tell me that and don't bring up Fechko 2 years ago because she was DEFINITELY on the favorite list (THEN), but now she actually deserves it, and let's not forget that Morrisette came as a Freshman and was clearly better but she came off the bench behind 2 seniors except for the difficult games which required the BEST player to play (where are the 2 seniors now?). I did say unless you were a friend of the coach, team parent, baby sitter OR vacation buddy (Right?). So there are more than one which qualifies. Morissette started some games as a Freshman never made a permanent starter until last year like Howard, Fechko and Fox were. Had Morissette not had such a high profile status, trust and believe she would have sat the bench again last year. My point to it all is no matter what year you are the best people should play and favortism or being a senior should in no way play apart in it. This is not about Solis parents, who are very good people neither is it about Solis the person it's about Solis the COACH and she has always done this at least for as long as I have known her to coach on other teams not only Twinsburg.

There are 6 seniors on the team and not 7 and its not surprising to you that they are all in the starting line up. Why? Do you really believe that none of the players on the bench are better than any of these starters? What a joke. I saw them all play at OGBR and the 2 unsigned seniors are in the starting line up while the other juniors and sophmore you speak of are D1 prospects. I checked the books that Tom sends to colleges. The same thing happened at Solon with her favorites like Dana Banda at Solon (where is she now) while the others who sat behind her ended up at D1 schools or with a full scholarship. It wasn't meant for this to go far but I just wanted to point out a previous thread to how far a coach would go in regards to favortism as to lose an important game. Also, to highlight WKYC role player interview. I just think its pathetic.

Interesting conversation between oldmanfbfan and runningoutoftime. And before the comments come from Twinsburg starting the season 0-2. They lost today by 3 to the #6 team in the country. Every coach has favorites and ultimately you are judged on wins and losses. Coach Solis has done a nice job in the catergory. Whether she plays all seniors or mostly seniors depends on her comfort level, I probably agree with running more than I do with oldman, running you have to understand that oldman is a teacher in the Twinsburg school district that has supported Mr. and Mrs Solis since they arrived and even after Mr. departed. You have to give oldman an A+++ for loyalty.(look at his posts). After this class and the juniors the well is really dry after those two classes. Twinsburg will be rebuilding and taking their lumps after this year. The junior class has some nice players but the talent level will really fall off after the junior class graduates. Oh and old man, as a teacher you shouldn't be telling anyone to get professional help, I think thats out of you comfort zone.

Where are they now. Mohney is playing volleyball at Wheeling Jesuit. Her favorite sport. Southworth got a full ride to Appalca. St. and has since transferred to West Liberty and starts there. Fox is at St. Francis in NY starting and Nicole Carmen is at U of Pittsburgh of Johnstown. These are the only seniors that played or started for Solis at Twinsburg. Two of this years seniors have already signed Howard at Maryland and Gatewood at Appalca. St. I know there are other on the team that will get scholarships later, as most all seniors have had some type of offer. Thre are 2 seniors that I don't think really care about college ball. They just want to be with their friends and play HS ball. I really don't see what you are trying to say other than you think Solis plays favorites. You know what. I agree. They are all her favorites. That's how little you know about what is going on at Twinsburg. Solis has lost 3 games. 27-0 last year and she lost to state champs McKinley and HB the year before Not too bad. The other loss was last night to the #3 ranked team in the country in OT at their place after a 12 hour bus ride. I guess she must be doing something right. Physciatrists really can help. Don't be ashamed of your problem. Face it and get cured.

Lets see. You got a person who couldn't get a D1 basketball scholarship so resorted to playing volleyball and Morrisette who is the Top 100 in her class sat the bench behind her. Gatewood sat the bench last year and ended up with a D1 scholarship from the same school they took Soutworth, and she should have been in the starting line up last year as a junior but she wasn't a senior or favorite so it wasn't her turn. The others have NOTHING to do with this equation. Are they all her favorites? ha ha that's cute. Mostly all senors have some type of offer, Are you sure about that? You know what Solis did right "FOUND A NEW JOB" and took Morisette with her. That's what she did right and after this year might not have been a good decision because look at Solon now. Up and coming young team. Funny I didn't even care what was going on at Twinsburg this year until I saw the WKYC interview and it brought flashbacks. Then I talked to people I know and here is the thread.

Well this will really make you happy. Seeing how you think Solis is the devil. Twinsburg lost to Bollingbrook today 50-47. Have a good life. Now I know why Julie left Solon - Parents just like you!!!! or fans or what ever you are. I have always had a good relationship with Solon over the years and have rspected their athletic programs. I guess I need to reconsider that opinion.

27-0 and a state title is 27-0 and a state title.

1. Scoreboard.

2. I'm not a Twinsburg fan.

3. I completely respect the way Solis goes about her business. They play as a team, are always well prepared, and will adjust based on opposing personnel while staying true to themselves and their own personnel.

4. Morrisette didn't start as a freshman at the beginning of the year because Morrisette wasn't ready to start as a freshman at the beginning of the year. I saw many of those early season games. You're right: it wasn't her time...but that had nothing to do with her age.

5. Katie Fox was part of the glue that held that team together last year. She was a tenacious on-the-ball defender. So she was a below-average shooter...so what? She was a plus in every other category.

6. Gatewood may not have started last year, but she was on the floor in many games down the stretch when it mattered. Coaches generally care a helluva lot more who the 5 on the floor are in the last 3 minutes rather than the first 3 minutes.

7. Fechko is a good shooter. For all the accomplishments of Howard, Morrisette, Fox, and Gatewood, there's not a good 3 point shooter in the bunch (though I have a hunch Morrisette will be this year, she wasn't last year). Fechko helped space the floor so Howard could go to work inside and Morrisette and Gatewood could drive.

8. Dana Banda was Solis's best player her senior year. I wasn't around it enough to comment her earlier years. She was an incredible competitor who got after it on both ends of the floor. It's not all about D-I potential or OGBR ratings. It's possible one can just be a hard-nosed ballplayer who plays their tail off for 32 minutes a night and becomes a great HS player while not having the skill for the next level.

9. Why do I have to defend the coach of a team that just went 27-0 and won a state title? I shouldn't have to. The details of her departure from Solon have been rehashed over and over again--I wasn't there, I don't know the situation, so I'm not going to comment. But there's a difference between holding a grudge against a coach for fleeing a school and failing to recognize the quality of a coach who went 18 months between losing and brought home a state title. Part of Solis's success is her ability to coach the talent around her and get them to believe in one another. Obviously her system works. Yes you need talent to win big, but everyone with talent doesn't. Solis consistently has. Coaching matters--Solis has proven she can do that.

I'm so tired of this forum being used as a 'b**ch about coaches anonymously' venue.... Obviously SOME of us have been waiting a very long time to get the chance to rip Solis since she hasn't loss in so long. Shows great character to air a ton of dirty laundry after a singular loss (to a nationally ranked team in a top tier tournament). This crap is getting old and played out on here. :dang:

All I have to say about this is "there is ALWAYS some truth to every story". I once was a Solis fan and it wasn't until I saw for myself that I believed any of the stories I heard. I am also not going to bash her to strangers. My message to parents: If you are having issues at your school with the coach, OHSAA, playing time etc.. don't leave. Stay and try to work it out because the grass isn't always greener on the otherside. 27-0 looks green.

Success comes with a price!!

Well runningoutoftime you sound like you know alot going on in Twinsburg for not being a twinsburg player parent. So who is starting in Twinsburg? I would expect Howard, Morrissetti, Fechko and Gatewood would be starters! So I guess your complaint is about 5th starter. So in your opinion who should it be since you know so much about the team.

I read the article you speak of and I really didnt see where she was out of line. Everyone knows Howard and Morrissetti are the two go to palyers, and the rest are the supporting cast. It was that way last year, but Fox was the coach on the floor that made it run. I get her point, and you are making it for her. If players cant except their roles and the expectations coach Solis has for them this year then Twinsburg will have a tough year.

But IMO losing to the USA Today #1 and #6 teams by 3 and 1 points is nothing to be ashamed of, and Twinsburg is still the State Champs until someone here in Ohio can knock them off.

Great competition will make them stronger. Wadsworth is on Wednesday. Any predictions? Grizzlies played them very tough in the tournament last year.

Junior Transfer Parent

My daughter is the junior who transferred into the program. I am not going to confirm or deny any of what is said on this site. However, I don't believe any of the current parents on the team would write any of this and as a new parent it always takes some adjustment to getting use to a program, and although no program is perfect this team has made my daughter feel at home. Therefore, before speculation gets out of hand, take under consideration that this might not be a Twinsburg parent.

Also take under consideration, when a successful team is a target many rumors and/or comments might be made in order to break down a team, parents or discredit a coach. As I previously stated, at the end of the day there is ALWAYS some truth to every story, but usually the rest is a lie. The only way you will know if you see it for yourself, otherwise its just hearsay.
To answer your question from an ACTUAL Twinsburg parent the 5th starter will be whoever Solis decides to put on the court that day.

Richland Sports......I think the Twinsburg girls basketball team will grab the Grizzlies by the throat, Slammmmmmmmm them a few time, set their tails on fire, kick them in the a**, and when it is all said and done, PETA will be protesting the handling of the Grzzlies by the LADY TIGERS of TWINSBURG.

The Tebow Effect

Everyone dislikes Julie Solis. I have a theory that is based in part on the TEBOW EFECT. That is, you all want her to fail because she is a non-conventional coach just like TIM TEBOW is a non-conventional quarterback. What it all boil down tooooooooooooo is this point........DOES JULIE SOLIS WIN GAMES. ENOUGH SAID:p :p :p :p :p

I never said runningoutoftime was a Twinsburg parent, but someone who seems to know alot about the program. And over the years watching the current senoir class play, I expected them to start atleat 4 of them with Morrissetti. Just my opinion.

All I know is Twinsburg lost to two of the top teams in the nation, so seems to me that they are once again loaded this year. Time will tell I guess.
